When I was a young tot, I truly believed that all cats were female and all dogs were male. This also led me to often raise an eyebrow when seeing a female dog urinate and not lift a leg. And...well...cats I still can't tell...

My cousin told me that if you look into my grandma's cat's eyes, you can see the future.

I believed it but was afraid of getting scratched in the face by doing so, so I never tried it.

My brother told me that cat's beeped when you squeezed them. (Lightly of course) He'd squeeze them and beep and I thought it was the cat. I thought I was squeezing wrong for some time.

I used to believe that dogs and cats would poo out of the tips of their tails. I mean, that's why they had tails; that's what their tails were designed for.

when i was 5 years old my parents brought home our first dog. it was a tiny, white, fluff ball or a puppy and after the excitement i started crying and wouldn't stop. for five minutes my mom attempted to calm me down and ask me why i was crying about getting a new dog. i told her that i was scared it would grow as big as clifford the big red dog and didn't want it to live with us.

I used to believe all dogs were male and all cats were female. I still call dogs "boy" and cats "girl."

When I was little my great-aunt had a storage shed out back turned into a home for tons of stray cats. To get us to wash our hands after we played with them, Aunt Ruby would tell us "If you swallow a cat hair, it'll turn into a worm in your stomach." I knew that dogs and cats sometimes got worms so this made perfect sense to me. I believed it well into high school.

When I was a kid, I was looking at a book about dogs and I noticed the breed called Border Collie. It didn't seem to look much like any Collie that I'd known about, and I doubted that I'd ever seen a Border Collie. That all seemed perfectly reasonable at the time, since where I leved in the U.S. was nowhere near a border with either Canada or Mexico. I even thought perhaps if you had one of the more familiar kinds of Collie dogs and then moved to somewhere near a border, the dog would then grow to look like a Border Collie like in the picture I saw.

When I was 5 or 6, the family cat started acting very strange. I asked my mother what was wrong with her, and my mother told me that "The cat is in heat." I didn't know what that meant, so I thought it was the same as when the car "overheated". After that I told my friends to be careful because "The cat is overheated".

We had a collie and she had clumps of matted hair behind her ears. I used to believe that when I squeezed the clumps it made a light come on in her mouth.

When I was about 6 the Apollo landed on the moon, this was on the evening news every night. At the same time our neighbours had a large alsatian dog named Pollo. Night after night I fantasized about how Pollo survived in his small cubicle and how he landed on the moon...

When I was around 3 or 4, I believed that all dogs were boys and all cats were girls......I found out that 'myth' was a mistake. It's funny---almost all the dogs I've owned over the years have been boys....and me? I'm alergic to cats....

funny---the things we believe...as kids

When I was little I believed our family dog was a spy for my mom. I always tried to be good in front of him but if I slipped up I would beg him not to tell.
