My mum told me that if I picked at the stuff that gathered in my belly button my umbilical cord will come undone and all my fluids will fall out. That petrified me until I was maybe thirteen, when I confronted my mum on how to get it clean if I couldn't touch it. She couldn't believe that I still believed her. I'm a rather gullible person, i suppose.

When I was little I used to think that newborn babies came out of the Mommy's bellybutton. Because the babies had a piece of the umbilical cord on their bellybutton it made perfect sense to my little person mind.

I used to believe, because my dad said so, that my arms, legs and head were all held on by cords attached to my belly button. If my belly button were to fall off, I would fall apart. It made sense to me because that's how G.I. Joe dolls were made.

My Opa (grandfather) used to threaten me with two things: unscrewing my nipples, which would make my arms fall off, and unscrewing my belly button, which would make my bottom fall off. Of course, I was terrified! :)

When I was about 5 or 6, my Dad would tell me that if I played with my belly button too much (which I did a lot) that I would fly around the room (like when you let go of a balloon). Now 8 years later, I'm still suspicious...

Ever since i was little my belly button has been inbetween an inie and an outie, and i showed my friend. Me and her were about 7 and she lied saying that her aunt's naval looked like mine but when she started getting older it kept growing and growing until it was a foot long (as she demonstrated with her arm.) After that I would cry at night thinking how gross my belly botton will be when I get older.

I used to live next to two girls who had red hair and a ton of freckles. When we went over their house for a pool party I would see them in their bathing suits. They had these huge outies that actually scared me! I thought up until I was 14 that redhaired girls with freckles had outies.

I used to believe that if you play with your belly button when you have a stomachache, your diarrhea would start coming out of your belly button. I'm 16 now and I try not to touch it - especially when my stomach hurts.

I wasn't sure to put this in sex or body parts, but whatever. My story is that I used to believe that girls covered their top because they were embarrassed to show their bellybutton. My sister and mother usually wore single-piece bathing suits, so I never was confused by two-piece bathing suits.

I thought that people were filled with air and that if you "untied" your bellybutton you would deflate and fly around the room(like a ballon does) or pop.

As a young child I always thought the umbilical cord of the baby was attached to the mother's belly button from the inside. and the mom's belly button doubled as a peek hole for the baby.. kids heh...

I used to believe women stuck tampons in their belly buttons when they got pregnant so the baby wouldn't bleed or come out of it.

When I was little I use to believe that my navel.... or anyone else's for that matter would break open. I use to be scared to touch my navel a lot, because I seriously thought that it would open up causing pain, blood, and my insides would pour out. I know that is not true, but to this day I hate it when my boyfriend tries to poke my stomach near my navel.
