When I was 8 , I thought that if you swallowed bubble-gum, it would make a bubble in your stomach and you would need to get operated in order to get it out. Now I am 10 and I'm not sure anymore since I've been on your site.
I used to believe that if I swallow chewing gum, a rubber tree will grow on my head!
i thought that those dried big glob of glue inside food wrappers were gum. i always peal them off and start chewing and wondered why they couldn't put a better taste there.
My parents used to tell me when I was about 5 that if I ate bubblegum and swallowed it that it would stay there for seven years.
They also told me that if I ate the watermelon seeds that in about a couple of years I would have a watermelon growing in my tummy.
I used to believe it took 7 years to digest swallowed gum. If that was really the case then I would have over 8,000 pieces of gum wadded up inside of me. 3 pieces a day x 7 days a week x 52 weeks in a year x 7 years really adds up. It is gross that I swallow that much but it is just a habit. Now I think I believe that the gum swallowing has saved me from many accidents and health problems. They will probably find someday that it is actually good for you!!!!!
when i was litle my mother said that if I swallow chewing gums they will be atached to my stomach, and then I imagine the walls of my stomach full of different colors and tastes.
When I was very young, around 5 or 6 yrs. old, I remember my mother telling me that if you swallowed your chewing gum, it would stick to your appendix and you'd have to have surgery. I guess I stuck that in the back of my mind and never thought much about it until I was about 20, right after I'd gotten married. I accidentally swallowed my gum, while doing housework. All of a sudden I remembered what my mother had told me. I always trusted my mother. Go figure.
When I swallowed gum I imagined it sticking to the inside walls of me, specifically in my arms, and thinking that there was plenty of room if I accidentally swallowed more gum.
My Mum told me that if you swallowed chewing gum, your bones would stick together inside you.
My aunt always used to tell me that if I swallowed gum, I'd turn into a frog!
when i was young i used to believe that chewing gum was made out of cows feet
I used to believe that if you swallowed chewing gum it got stuck in your stomach for years and years. But, being a not-too well off kid, i didn't want to waste a peice i was eating, so i stuck it behind my ear (an idea i got from the film "charlie and the chocolate factory"). of course, this stuck to my hair and i had to have it cut.
Because it's awkward to do in public (yes, people can and do give you dirty looks for this), I prefer to swallow gum instead of spitting it in a trash can. This started at a young age.
My parents told me if I continued to swallow the gum, it would "gum up" my insides and my body would stop functioning properly.
...
For some reason, I didn't care enough about this to stop swallowing my gum.
my dad told me a long time ago that if i swallowed gum it would go into my lungs and keep me from breathing! of coarse i have no clue why he told me a story to make me not want to swallow gum but it sure worked for a couple of years. by the way if u push your nose while you swallow gum it helps you swallow =) thats a fact!
When I was about 5 years old, my dad told me to be careful when chewing gum because if you swallowed it, it would get stuck to your stomack, and never come out. When I would accidently swallow my gum I would think to myself that I would have a belly full of gum by the time I was older.
When I was about 9 I was told that if you swallowed your gum then it would be in your digestive tract for 8 years. So I figured that with all the gum I must have swallowed already I'd have gum inside of me for the rest of my life. Thankfully I learned that gum is digested just like everything else. :) I still don't like swallowing my gum anymore though. 0_o
My parents told me that having too much candy, or particularly gum, would rot my teeth. I thought that it would instantly turn my teeth into the yellow rotten things I saw on posters at the dentist's office.
I still don't chew gum.
my mom made me believe that if i swallowed my chewing gum, it would form one big wad in my stomach.
I used to believe that when I swallowed my gum,it would take seven years to dissolve in my stomach!! But I wouldn't believe it IF my uncle didn't tell me-He even promised that it was true!!!
