One day when I was about 6 my older brother, 11 at the time, saw me eating an orange and noticed I was eating some of the smaller, softer seeds that were in the orange.
He told me a story about our cousin that had been eating oranges like that and had to be rushed to the hospital when they discovered an orange blossom in his ear!
For a while after that I could not eat oranges until my mom started buy naval oranges. And I spread the story until someone at school pointed out my foolery!

When I was four, my mom told me not to eat the black seeds in watermelon. (I still don't know why!) But I knew that I accidentally swallowed one. I kept imagining that a watermelon vine was growing in my stomach. I was afraid to confront my mom, because I thought she would take me to the hospital and get an operation.

When i was young, Maybe 4, my older brother told me if i planted the seeds on top of Cheeseburgers, a Cheeseburger tree would grow. Needless to say, after weeks of watering and tending, my Cheeseburger tree never sprouted.

When my little sister was 3 she asked what would happen to the watermelon seeds that she just swallowed. I told her it would grow in her body and out from the top of her head. She looked at me for a moment. Then I pulled up my sleeve and pointed to my blood vein and said "look these are roots from the ones I swallowed yesterday." She stared at my arm and stoned....

Someone in my kindergarten class told me once that apple seeds were poisonous and they'd kill you in a second if you bit down on them. I believed that for a lonnnng time!

I used to refuse to eat seeds because I thought they were radioactive (this was around the time of the Chernobyl disaster)

I honestly believed untill I was 13ish that if you swallowed a watermelon seed it would plant its self into your stomache, grow into a huge melon and make you explode. -and there was nothing any doctor could do about it.

My mom believes that receiving sesame seeds or substance containing sesame seeds by hand leads to disagreements between those people.
(And i didnt totally disbelieve her either.)
I used to happily hand them between people i love but never between those i usually quibble at. Good usage ha?

Again this is a friend of mine. At 6 she had been told that eggs were chicken seeds. She reasoned that she could grow a chicken tree/plant with an egg from the refrigerator. (She had a lot of plants in her room that she took good care of, even at 6). She potted the egg in dirt and put the pot near the window in her room, watering it everyday and spraying it to keep bugs away. She learned the truth when her mother asked her what kind of plant was in the pot of dirt by the window (noticing nothing was growing there even after 3 months of watering/sunshine). Her mother got the biggest laugh when her daughter said she was growing a chicken tree.
