When I was five, I used to believe that once you got married, you automatically had kids. I once visited a married couple's house with my parents and thought it was strange that they didn't have any kids.

When I was little I asked my mom if when you got married you all of a sudden had a baby. My mom said "sorta" and for a while I never wanted to marry becasue I was afraid I would have a baby, and I hated(still do) babies.

I used to believe that when women got married, a random man off the street would suddenly propose to her. I asked my mom about that and she said that was right and sometimes the man would even get down on his knee! I found that stupid and was disgusted. I vowed to never get married, and I think that vow will last, but for different reasons, of course...

When I was about 4 or 5 I believed that you could date as many people as you wanted at a time and be in love with all of them and then you would choose one of them to marry.

I used to believe that when two people got married the wife automatically became pregnant. Like the baby just started growing once they decided to get married. That's because every wedding that I went to as a kid the bride was married. I had no concept of sex back then.

Once when I was 2 my mom and dad were going to attend a wedding (and leave me and my sister with a babysitter.) I thought they were going to their OWN wedding, and for years and years after that I thought that was when they had gotten married.

MY FATHER ALWAYS TOLD ME THAT IF I DIDN'T LEARN TO COOK, NO MAN WOULD EVER WANT TO MARRY ME. I BELIEVED THAT RIGHT ABOUT UNTIL I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL.

I used to think that when you married, a seed would go through you at the altar, giving you the kids you had.

My mom later convinced me otherwise.

Where do the seeds go, then?

I thought that King and Queen were titles like Mr and Mrs that you could use when you were in a royal family. So when a prince and princess got married, they'd automatically become King and Queen So-and-So.

I used to believe that as soon as a couple was married they got a baby when they were done walking down the aisle. I also used to think they got to choose the gender of the kid too.

i used to believe you had to marry people who have your same last name. i thought this because before my mom was married, her last name actually was the same as my dad! so i was confused with that until i was like seven....

I grew up in NY. I remember overhearing my mother saying she and my Dad got married in Dobbs Ferry{MD}. I therafter would tell my friends my parents were married on a ferry boat! Sounded pretty exciting to me! It was several years later that I realized they had eloped and drove to Dobbs Ferry, Maryland to be married by a justice of the peace. Back then Maryland didn't require a blood test so lot's of applicants would flock there for quickie marriages.

I used to believe that a husband had to be 6 months to 1 year older than his wife. If it were less than 6 months, or more than one year, they couldn't get married. I was very confused one day when one of my friends told me that her dad was 9 years older than her mom.
