At my dentist's office there used to be this nasty picture of a witch with dark yellow teeth and all sorts of candy around her that was supposed to give you the idea that she was trying to convince you to do the "bad" thing and eat sweets and not take care of your teeth. I was only 4 or 5 so I took it more like you turn into a witch if you eat too much candy and never brush your teeth. It was the scariest picture ever. I still didn't brush my teeth, though. It was just a scary picture.

I loved the Wizard of Oz as a kid...still do actually...and my mom taped something off the television for me. They played the movie and then, afterwards, there was this thing that talked about the actors, the producers, etc...and all about how they made the movie. First they had Dorothy and the Wicked Witch of the West standing next to each other and I couldn't understand how Dorothy could stand next to her if she was dead. They went through and explained the lives of the actors and said that Judy Garland was dead. I didn't understand that because I watched her everyday. Then they also had the guy who did the special effects for the tornado on there explaining everything. I cried and kept asking mom why the evil man would create a tornado and how he could do it. I thought only God could make tornados. I guess I didn't understand yet that it was just a movie and the people were just actors. I also thought the munchkins were really just little kids instead of little people. They showed the actors who played the munchkins and they were all really old and they scared me too. I was also madly in love with the Tinman...come on, who wasn't?! :)

I used to believe that a witch lived under our stairs because there is a little storage space with a door under them and they creak loudly when you walk on them. I told my friend that she jumped up at you if you didn't go fast enough and she is still afraid of them.... hehe.

When i was little my bedroom was on the first floor near the window, and thought that a witch lived outside my window and she would let people in if they had the secret password. who knows why but every once and a while i would leave a note in my bible for her to get.

When I was about five or six, my sister and her friend convinced me that I was a witch. I didn't believe them at first but they gave me all kinds of tests to show that I was. One was that I had to blow o ut a magic candle. They said that only witches could blow out the magic candle, and I could.
Then I went around casting 'spells' on all my classmates. This went on for almost a month until my mom noticed me saying funny words at the bushes in my backyard because I was trying to turn them into animals. She told me witches weren't real.

My sister would tell me that our church chorister was a witch and that she would eat little kids if she ever caught them. She would fly her broom at night and cause trouble and that she was just plain evil!

I told my little brother that the girl next door was a powerful witch who had put a curse on me. The minute I got into bed I was trapped and unable to set foot on the floor until the next morning, or I would die. This meant that he had to run around and fetch me drinks and sandwiches - which he would do. And with a very frightened round eyed look on his face HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !

When I was just a little girl, and my older sister was a teenager, she had a friend who always dressed in black lace and liked to draw black spirals coming out of the corner of her eyes. This friend told me that she was a witch, and that I could be a witch too if I liked. She said that the first think I had to do to prove to myself that I was really a witch was blow out a candle with my mind - so I spent a very very VERY long time sitting in front of a candle trying to blow it out with my mind. I was very very VERY disapointed when I eventually gave up.

When I was about 7 or 8 I believed that a witch on a broomstick was hovering outside my bedroom window at night. I used to sit in the dark trying to catch a glimpse of her shadow. I would never look at of the window at night unless my lights where off cause she'd be able to see me and I couldn't see her. Whenever I looked out of the window with the lights off, I could never see her.

I used to believe that when you flushed the loo, witches would appear to float out from it. Thinking this, I used to flush the toilet and run for my life!

I used to think 12:00 AM until 12:59 was the "witching" hour. If I awoke at this time then something bad would happen. So if I saw the clock showing this time I would try to fall asleep under the covers as fast as possible
