Since I was 7, 28 years ago, I've been a big Elvis fan. At age 10 I got hold of the Roustabout soundtrack album, and upon hearing the sopng "Poison Ivy League" for the first time, I swore he sang "How can they f**k"...a few years later I realized it was actually "how can they flunk". Thank goodness I never sang that in front of my parents!
There is this old Alan Jackson song called "Chasin' that Neon Rainbow". When I was little, I pictured someone chasing a knee into a rainbow.
On Michael Jackson's Billie Jean song... I thought he sang "Billie Jean is not my lover, she's just a girl who says that I am the one... but the GIRL is not my son." And I was always thinking how can a girl be a son anyway?
I've never let my mum live down the time when she was singing 'Take That Look Off Your Face' from the musical 'Song and Dance' (Andrew Lloyd Webber/Don Black).....she sang 'There's more than one car with knickers on'!
Personally I'm yet to see one car like this!
Queen:
"god knows I want to break free"
I heard:
"got nose I want to break free"
Queen:
"that would really be a breakthrough"
I heard:
"that would really be a grapefruit"
When I was little, I used to watch The Facts of Life, and would sing along with the theme song..."You take the good, you take the bad, you take it all and then you have the facts of life."
My version was, "You make your bed, you take a bath, you do it all..." I always thought it made sense since they had to do those things every night to get ready for school the next day.
In the Michael Jackson song Billie Jean, the lyric really goes, "But the kid is not my son." I always thought it was "the chair is not my lover."
That song Rock the Kazbar, I always thought they were saying "rock the cash bar" then I thought I was wrong and thought it was "rock the dance floor"
In Christina Aguilara's song dirty, I thought that when they said in the beginning "too dirty to clean my act up" that they were saying "too dirty to clean my bathtub"
my aunt karen though that song
"IM CRAZY FOR THIS GIRL"
said..
"IM CHASING FOR AUNT SHIRL"
we laughed sooo hard.. it was real funny
Ok, My Sister.. Was listenin to Ryan Cabrera's "On The Way Down"
Real Lyrics:: Sick and tired of this world ..theres no more air
HER version:: sick and tired of this world theres no money
haha.. i laughed forever on that one
I used to think that the beach boys song "Barbara Ann" was "Bob Bob Baran" and that they were talking about a guy in the song, which made perfect sense to me because for the longest time I thought that the Beach Boys were girls (becuase of their voices). I didn't find out it was Barbara Ann until one day I asked my mom when I was about 12 why a guy named Bob, Bob Baran would "lick someones hand" (I thought it was "...he licked my ha-a-and..") and she cleared me up....
When I was about 5 or 6, I used to believe that song that goes, "ain't no stopping us now" used to say, "Angel's stuck in the snow." I'm 14 and much smarter!
In Harry Conick Jr's song "I just whisper your name" my cousin thought he said: "I just whisper Germaine"
She found it very strange that the song mentioned her uncle's name
In The Creed Song "What This life For" My Dad thought "we all live under the reign of one king" was "we all live under the reign of monkey".
There is a song by Hootie and the blowfish that goes something like: "let her cry, let her walk right out on me, let her see," then went on to say "let her go,and if the sun comes up tomorrow let her be." I thought that this was just a different version of the alphabet, and that it really went: "letter I, letter walked out on me, letter C,... letter O, and and if the bun is filled with sorrow, letter B" Made perfect sense to a six year old child!
"Pressure" by Billy Joel
He said "Sesame Street, what does it mean?" but I misheard it as "Sex in the streets, what does it mean?"
When I was really little I was afriad of this song it use to scare me everytime it came on. It was called "Dream Weaver" by Gary Wright.
This is the my version
Ohh James Weaver
I believe you can get me through the night.
The original version.
Ooh dream weaver
I believe you can get me through the night
In Sade's song Smooth Operator, I used to think she was saying, " OOOh pop a red eye."
When I was young, I thought that in "Chapel Of Love" by The Dixie Cups they said "Going to the jack-a-lantern, Gonna to get married" instead of "Going to the chapel, And we're gonna get married".
I used to think it was a hallowe'en song, and wondered why I never heard it on October 31st.
