When my twin sister was small she once started shouting out "Piss off Honey, how we don't talk any more", from the ever popular Cliff Richard song!

my friend thought the lyrics to the song "scar tissue" by the red hot chilli peppers were:

'with the bugs that shed this alone with you'

and its actually:

'with the birds i'll share this lonely view'

There was a Craig David track on his first album, I can't remember what was the title though. The actualy lyrics was 'Pretty, young girl like that'.

But I don't know how, I heard 'Pretty umbrella man'. At least I got the pretty part right.

I used to think that Norah Jones sang "I waited 'til I saw the sun, don't know why I didn't cum" in the song "Don't Know Why"
I'm still not sure, but it seems very unlikely. :)

I am a very big 80's fan, so when the song "1985" came out by Bowling for Soup I was happy! BUT the part that goes "She was gonna shake her A** on the hood of whitesnake's car..." I totally misheard... I love whitesnake and now know that the real version is much better than "She was gonna shake her a** on the hood of my 6th car..."

Even though the title is 'How Bizarre', I always thought he sang "help is on"...

My parents listened to country a lot and there was a song by Garth Brooks called "I'm Shameless" and I thought he was saying "I'm shavin"

There was a girl that used to come over and play with me and my sister and we would listen to Blackstreet "No Diggity" all the time. She picked up on some of the lyrics and would sing "I like the way you work here, no diggity, I like the way you bag it up" Instead of "I like the way you work it, no diggity, I like the way you back it up"
It was the cutest thing.

My friend Helz has a lot of these, but my favourite was when she thought the line from Summer Nights from grease "he just turned 18" was " and he has white teeth"
It really tickled me

Even as a kid I liked classical music, but was convinced that all operas were written in Spanish. Well, I knew they weren't in english, and what with Carmen's bullfighters, Barber of Seville, Don Giovanni, Don Carlos and others it seemed logical. I could never work out "Figaro" though - Figaro was Gepetto's cat in the Disney film "Pinocchio", and never sang a note in any language that I could remember.
At least I did better than the little lad who, when asked by his operatic parents what his favourite aria was answered, "The one about elephant's ears". This puzzled them for ages until they heard "La donna e mobile" from "Rigoletto", by a singer also with poor knowledge of italian - catch the last line -yep, easily taken for "elephant's ears"!

In the new rap hit "Soul Survivor" by Akon and Young Jeezy, when Akon sings, "'Cause I'm ryda, yeah." I thought he was saying, "Bustin' my pride-ah, yeeah." And I recently caught my brother singing, "'Cause I'm a prava, yeahh..."
:-P

But yes, I do love 60's rock music.

Actual lyrics to Edward McCaine's "Ill Be": I'll be your crying shoulder, I'll be love's suicide."
I heard "I'll be love's silver sigh." I like my lyrics better.

When I was small I used to watch The Land Before Time a lot. The theme song is 'If We Hold on Together'. Some of the lyrics are:

If we hold on together
I know our dreams will never die
Dreams see us through to forever
Where clouds roll by
For you and I

I somehow heard those lyrics (with a mangled tune to match) as:

Blazing motels
One thousand is the total
Waltzing at once
And we'll do it again

I believed this for a very long time. I knew it never made sense but accepted it as fact anyway.

When I was about 14 or so, me and my mum were watching Annie and she started singing along with the song "It's A Hard Knock Life" complete with what she thought were the correct lyrics: "it's a hard knock life for us, we're from the or-phan-age!"

7 years on and I still remind her about it whenever the song comes on, or whenever anyone mentions anything to do with Annie in general.

My mum turned 50 last year.
