When i was about 3 or 4 i thought Gene Simmons was the Boogie Man.
i once thought michael jackson got hit in the face by a white car, and his skin changed when the car hit him, and you know the face story
When I was 11, my aunt gave me a record player for Christmas. She asked what kinds of records I liked. I told her anything EXCEPT the Beatles...they were druggie music and no good. (I was into Donny Osmond, Leif Garrett and other bubblegum musicians.) With her twisted sense of humor, she included Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band album. I was disgusted at the way they had stolen "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" from one of my preteen loves...Jack Wild! Imagine my surprise...when I was in college several years later, to discover the opposite!
When I was a kid, I used to believe that the "Godfather of Soul" (James Brown) and the Cleveland Browns great running back (Jim Brown)were the same person.....hey!!!
I used to believe that Donny Osmond was actualy trapped inside the posters on my wall!! No matter where i stood in my bedroom he would be looking at me.
I stared to get dressed in the bathroom after that discovery or get dressed under the blanket!!
I thought that Spandu Ballet were ballet dancers and wore tutus.
for a long time i was convined that david bowie really did come from outer space, rather than beckenham. somewhere in my mind i guess i still believe that...
When I was younger I always imagined Madonna and Micheal Jackson would get married.
When I was in the sixth grade my teacher told me that KISS (the rock band) gave money to Satan by burying it the ground. For a few years after that I was worried that when digging in the dirt I would break through to Hell.
My wife thought she was Elvis mother when she was 4. It was 1977 the same year he died.
I was 4 when the "Uptown Girl" video by Billy Joel came out. On the video, his skin looks so tan that I used to think that he was African-American.
when i was little i used to think that U2 were only shown on BBC2 and UB40 were only on channel 4. fun boy 3 on itv? i dunno.
When I was around 4 or 5, I used to believe that the rock band KISS were really monsters and vampires, not understanding all the makeup and costumes. Often I had a nightmare that they were controlling this vacuum cleaner robot that was chasing me.
that Elvis lived in Walsall Town Hall. It had pillars at the front, so did Graceland so the confusion is understandable
I used to think the brown haired woman in the pop group Abba, AniFred Lyngstadt, was the witch in the Hansel And Gretel book
I was sure that Led Zeppelin was the lead singer of the Rolling Stones.
If an artist was performing I always thought if their children needed something like a glass of water then the artist would have to stop performing and do it for them.
I used to believe my dad was Jimmy Buffet. Mostly because he said so, but also, if you look at the album cover, I forget the name, but the one with the sinking boat called 'Good Luck', Daddy looks just like that picture of Jimmy. He also had me half-convinced that he had to sing the lines of songs before the radio so they'd know what to say next. I though my uncle was Alan Jackson, and still think of him everytime I hear AJ. Again, similar looks. And I forget his name, but the *guy* who sings 'Thank God I'm A Country Boy'? Well, I thought HE was my AUNT.....
My Dad used to tell everyone that he taught Eric Clapton how to play guitar-"I taught him all he knew" and all the kids in my street believed him despite the fact my Dad could barley play guitar!
When I asked my mother how Elvis died, she told me that he ate too much candy.
