I used to believe that one night, gravity would go away and everyone would float into outer space.
I also believed that if a comet hit us, the same would happen.
I used to believe that the sky was a blue 'roof' on top of the world and that all you had to do was fly high enough and you could touch it.
I didn't think too hard about what happened at night, tho.
i used to believe that the moon really WAS made out of cheese. i really did.
In Mexico, the words "rocket" and "fireworks" can be used as synonymous. So, I USED to believe that fireworks could take us to the outer space and in traditional holidays, (where is common use fireworks), I didn't want to go out to celebrate because I was afraid that these "fireworks" take me to outer space and I wouldn't back to my home.
When I was about 5, I convinced myself that when I looked up at the sky, I could see the world turning. I think my mother burst my bubble by telling me that what I was seeing was the clouds moving across the sky.
I used to believe that the sun and the moon were the same thing...just different colors
When I was a child, I believed that the sun turned into the moon at night and that the moon became the sun during the day.
When I was little and there was a full moon clearly visible, that the shaddows on the moon represented a lady and gentleman sitting having a meal at the dinner table.I thought that the taller person on the left looked like a king with a crown on his head and the shorter person on the right also wearing a crown, must be the queen. Even now when I see a full moon i still can see what I imagined as a child. I guess now that fairy tales and food must have featured largely in my life. They still do, as I like happy endings and a full stomach.
I thought that the Great Bear constellation was only visible from our town, and that was the reason why the symbol of our town was a saucepan. Actually, it was to do with the local tin plate industry, ... not quite as romantic !
I never figured out that the moon rose and set like the sun until I was about 24 years old. I thought that when the sun went down, we could see the moon only because it was one of the brightest things in the sky. I remember looking up at the night sky several times one night and being really shaken that the moon kept moving.
i used to believe that the sky was the floor of heaven and it had holes in it. At night, heaven would switch its lights on and they would shine thru the holes and we would see stars...
Not really sure when that ended.
I used to belive neil Armstrong jumped onto the moon and everyone saw him cause of course he was half a big as it!
I looked at the moon ever since and pictured an astronaught half as big as the moon standing on it with an american flag!
I also belived (like many people) that the moon followed me while in the car at night.
When I was a kid, I asked my mom can I get to the Moon. She said no, that's very, very far away. Then I asked : "What if I put one chair on another?" Standing on 1 chair was a pretty good height for me. And standing on 2 of them.. :)
I used to think that up in outer space the sun was a gigantic baby that never grew up like in Teletubbies.
When I was three or four, I remember believing that people lived on the moon. Not just some people, but all people. Including myself and my family...everyone.
I would gaze up at the moon in the night sky often, and wonder how such a clear reflection could show up there. It wasn't until I finally asked my parents that I learned we lived on planet earth.
I have no clue why I thought that we lived on the moon...
I used to believe that the sun was an oversized colour changing M&M.
i used to believe that stars were people in heaven and the moon was god
I remember when I was in preschool how I thought the moon had a light inside it, which made it glow. I also imagined this great big field of dirt, and that's where the sun and the moon and stars would be when they're not in the sky.
one night, a few years ago, my mom and I were sitting outside and enjoying the starry night. My sister, who was about four or five at that time, came out to join us. All of a sudden, she gave a horrified scream and ran indoors. My mom went after her, puzzled as to what had suddenly startled her. My sister explained that when she looked up, all the astronauts in the sky were shining their torchlights at her! She was talking about the stars!
i used to belive for about half my life that there were three globes the way everyone used to say the third world
