My mom told me one day to never go into a corn field, because when people go in they get lost and never come out!

When I was about two or three, or so the story goes, I'd seen a bit on Sesame Street where they'd shown a time-lapse film of grass growing. The sight of those tendrils wiggling their way out of the ground so terrified me for a while I refused to walk on grass at the park. I though that the grass would grow so fast it would grow through my feet.

My cousin told me that the middle of a dandelion tasted like butter. We would sit in her grandparents field by their house and pick them all day long. I always hoped it would taste like butter but it never did!

When I was very little, my mom planted some snapdragons and other flowers... Apparently, I had an affinity for picking flowers, and in order to keep me from picking the snapdragons, my mom told me that they were named "snapdragons" because they looked a little like dragons and had mouths, and if a little girl tried to pick them they would SNAP!! that little girl's fingers off and eat them. I was terrified of snapdragons for years after that!

I used to believe that when me and my friends used to go hop-picking (the stuff you make beer out of) every september when we was little, we would dare each other to go sixteen steps down the row.
But no-one ever did sixteen, because legend has it, that the hop ghost would get you when you reached sixteen steps and you would never come back

That legend has gone on for centeries (sp?) and no-one is brave enough to do sixteen.

When I was little I used to believe that if I stuck my nose too far into a flower when i was smelling it, the flower would bite my nose off.

Once when I was staying with my Grandparents I came in after running into some bull nettle (which is similar to poison ivy but a harry plant on the ground) and my Grandmother told me to "piss on it" and it was the only way it would stop itching. I thought she meant pee on the plant, but luckily I didn't. i was afraid I'd get it on my butt

Although I should have known better, and initially had doubts, my older sister had me absolutely convinced that fleas came from dandelions: that they hatched out sometime when they turned from yellow petals to downy fluff.

Because of this, I hated dandelions.

When I was little, I though that some cactuses were soft because of the white fuzzy effect made by the many spines on the plant, I believed this until one day I decided to pet it.

When i was younger my house used to be lined by trees going down the drive way. My dad would tell me this so i wouldn't go past them and go into the road. May i re-mind you i was only 3 or 4 at the time so i had a baby sitter and me and her were walking down the drive way to go to her house. I started screaming my head off and we had to turn around and have my older neighbor(next door) drive us across. :pppp

When i was around 8-9 my friends showed me these flowers and when they hadnt bloomed you twisted it from the bottom and pulled through the inner part and sucked it they said it was honey and that when the flower bloomed the bees took it all.

There was a small forest and a lake near my home and there was a huge tree with a hole in it and all the kids believed that it's the gate way to hell. One girl told us that she entered it and saw weird things and barely escaped and we was thinking she is so cool because of it...

When I was about two or three years old, there was an area that a fire had gone through and it burnt the tops of the trees and all the bushes ect. Well, my daddy would tell me that dinosaurs ate the tops of the trees off a long time ago, and that they never grew back. Eventually I learned it wasn't true.
To this day the tree tops haven't grown back yet lol.

My grandma had a huge vase filled with cattails in her entryway. Not wanting us kids to tear them up, she told us not to touch them or they would explode. I lived in mortal fear of those cattails for years thinking I would blow up the whole neighborhood if I accidently touched them.
