My brother told me that the bush in my neighbors yard had an indian living in it that would jump out and attack you when you walked by. I sprinted past that thing for 5 years until they finally cut it down.

I didn't know that there was only one type of dandelion flower until about a year ago (I just turned 30). I always thought that there were yellow ones, and then there were those white, fluffy, puff-ball ones. I was in complete disbelief when my husband told me they were the same flower just different stages of growth. I still have a hard time believing this. I mean, I've never seen a half-yellow/half-fluffy one....

When I was 4 my granparents and I drove from South Carolina to Disney World in Orlando, Fl. Along the way they kept telling me about the vast fields of amazing orange trees in Florida. When we got to Florida we drove through these vast fields, but when I looked the trees were not orange...they were the same color as regular trees...they just had oranges on them. I couldn't believe it. My grandparents were surprised by my dissappointment...and quite amused. I still wish there were "orange" trees.

I used to think that flowers grew into trees. I asked my dad one day if this was true, and he said yes.

When I was little, there were these huge woods behind my house that I used to explore. One day I saw someone's old bicycle that was fused with a tree that was growing, and I was convinced for years that when people didn't want their bikes, they left them for the trees to eat.

I used to think insects would walk along tree branches and *poof* become a leaf. I misunderstood buds for bugs.

I used to believe that when the leaves on the trees fell off in the winter, it ment the tree was broken. I would always say,"The tree is broken!"

We lived out in the country, and to get to the highway and into town we had to pass a papermaking factory. When I was 8, every time we passed by I would ask what stinked, and my mother would say "The plant." So for the next two years every time we went to town I would stare at the woods opposite the factory looking for a giant purple spotted plant belching out clouds of stench.

Until quite recently, I thought that christmas trees were obtained by workers climbing to the top of large evergreens and cutting off the tips. I always wondered where all the forests with the topless trees were. My boyfriend still teases me about it and points out every tree farm we pass.

When I was little I used to thing poincettias were called placentas. No one told me otherwise until I was about 12. I just remember being so happy to see so many placentas around Christmas time.

I had just learned a few minutes ago that a nightshade was a plant. I always thought it was a lampshade that was especially bright so you could use it at night.

I used to think poison ivy was extremely extremely poisonous, like arsenic or something, and that if you touched it, you would die right away. I could never figure out why people weren't more scared of it. I also thought that all ivy was poison ivy, and when you saw a building covered with ivy, the people living there were taking such a huge risk of perhaps touching the ivy by mistake and dying instantly.
