Going to my Grandmothers, we would always pass a huge factory that had tons of smoke pouring out from it. I though it was a cloud making machine.

When I was wee little, my Aunt K told me that the smoke stacks in my home town made the clouds. The sad part is, I believed it until I was 12.

I told my kids that the huge chimneys at the power station were cloud machines. Travelling past one day, the sky was blue and the first chimney wasn't smoking (strange coincidence?), but a few miles up the road and the sky began to cloud over. You guessed it, the second chimney was smoking. So, my little story became their belief, until I fessed up and told them the truth!

I used to think that clouds came from the big factory downtown. When the clouds were dark, the factory was putting out more pollution.

I used to believe that this power plant near my home was actually a Cloud Factory and the steam coming from it were the freshly produced clouds. I thought if the clouds were nice and thick they'd serve for the angels as a vessel to float around the sky and I was always glad to see such a cloud leave.

I used to believe that the oil refineries near my house were really "cloud making factories." This seemed reasonable, I lived in Los Angeles near the ocean, the smoke-stacks were near the ocean, clouds are white, smoke is white...

There is a factory in my town that emitts a lot of white steam. Everytime my family would drive by, my sister and I would exclaim "Look! It's the cloud factory!" We really believed that the factory made clouds.

When i was about 5-6, i thought factories expelling white smoke were making clouds for a sunny weather while factories producing black smoke were producing rain clouds and would cause the rain to come soon. It never occured to me that different factories come out with different coloured smoke. I thought it was according to the weather they wanted that day. So i would pretty disappointed if i didn't want it to rain but saw a factory producing black "clouds".

When I was little I thought that factory smokestacks that produced clouds of white fluffy exhaust were cloud factories, and that's where clouds came from.
