One time when I was little, me my brother and mother drived pass a water tower. My brother said something along the lines of "Wow, they can probably sqeeze a ton of water out of there". when I was, mayber 4 or 5, I pointed my local water tower out to my grandad + asked what it was. He told me 'it's full of water' + showed me the pies underneath where the water goes up + down, + I noticed a ladder there, too. I assumed that it must be a swimming pool, + the pipes were water slides.
I once tried to ask my Mother if we could go swimming there, but she didn't have a clue where I meant. It always seemed to be closed, anyway.
Once when I was little I lost a balloon when we opened the car door and it flew out. There was this water tower sitting on top of a hill far away in my town, and I was convinced for a long time that the water tower was my balloon.
In order to keep us in line, my Mother used to tell us that those big water towers were prisons for small children. I would always hide in the back seat when we passed them on roadtrips.
when my mum was little, there was a water tower near her house (it has been since demolished) but she thought that when people died their dead bodies would be somehow transported into the water tower and float around in there, and at night, witches would fly out of it.
When I was about ages 4-7 or 8, I believed that on long car trips, when we saw watertowers, that they were following us. I would see them and think immediatley that we were being persued and were going to be eaten.
