When my mom tried to telephone someone and she'd hang up because the line was busy, I thought she said "The lion was busy." And I thought there was a lion in a big cage somewhere and if he was eating a big steak for lunch or was otherwise busy, calls couldn't get put through till he was done.
i used to think that whenever someone called someone else on a telephone that only the reciever needed a telephone and the caller just talked into the air.
I used to believe that everyone's phone number was 1-800-[their name.] So my friend Lindsay's number would have been 1-800-Lindsay, Big Bird's was 1-800-Big-Bird, etc.

When the cellphones were invented and I used to watch them on tv how they look like, one day my dad came up from work with a remote control and leave it on top of the bed. I enter the room and stole it try to dial the button. I just found out later that that was a remote.

When I was from 3 - 6 I used to believe that when I talked on the phone the person I was talking to was inside the phone so if I dropped it they would fall over or get hurt, so I always made a big apology and was scared to ddrop the phone.
When i was little i was always dead silent when the telephone answering machine came on because i thought that the person calling could hear me, so if it was a bill collector I would always hush up
when my little sister was like 5 or 6, she thought that the phone operator was was called a yaperator!
When I was little I believed that whenever someone would leave a message on a answering machine, but not talk, they could hear everything that is going on in my house.
When I was a little kid I thought that when you called someone, there was a tiny replica of them inside the telephone that talked to you. I wondered how there got to be a tiny replica of everyone in the world inside our phone. It seemed very impractical.
I used to believe that the phone company was listening to me whenever I talked on the phone because my mother told me it was illegal to use swear words on the phone. So I figured someone must have the job of listening on all the phones for swears all day and then sending the police to arrest people who had bad language.
there used to be a commercial on tv about a law firm, and there was a line in the commercial that said "if you have a phone, you have a lawyer" so one day i went to my mom and asked her who our lawyer was, and said we don't have a lawyer." and i said " but we have a telephone" i was so confused, i had though we got riped off, because every phone came with a lawyer.
well its was actully wen i was 10 or 11... sad
i believed that 666 was the devils phone number. and i tried dialing it it gave me that messaged like its unavalible. then i told my dad and he laughed
When I was about 5, my father was on the phone with someone and laughing quite a bit. Although I could only hear one side of the conversation, I had recently learned the secret to hearing both sides of it. So I climbed up onto his lap and put my ear firmly against his ear (the one opposite from his phone ear) and listened closely until he asked what I was doing. I explained that I was hoping the other person's words would go in out ear and out the other.
When I was young and called a friend on the phone, I thought the busy signal would eventually turn into ringing. I waited and waited but always lost my patience before the busy signal turned to ringing.
i used to think nods could be transmitted by telephone. my parents would put me on the phone with grandma, and she would ask me questions, and i would answer yes! by nodding.
iused to believe that those recordings on the phone that said your call did not go through were real people who were not allowed to say anything but that. i would yell at them for fun because i knew they couldn't say anything back.
I always thought that when you talked on a phone a little person [Who I named Jeffery] would run through the phonewire really fast and tell the person on the other end of the phone what you were saying.
I was rather upset when I found out that the little person didnt exist
