One time on TV I saw a commercial for pads, and being little and curious, I asked my mom what they were for. She said that lots of people pee a little bit when they laugh, cry or cough and the pads were to absorb the pee!
I thought having your period was like pee, but blood. I thought it just came out at once. I never knew it dripped. I always wondered why people were so worried about leaking while wearing pads. Couldn't they just go to the washroom and let it all out, then not have to wear the pad anymore, since their period was over? It was until i actually got it and I wondered why it was continous for the whole day, then I asked my mom if it was supposed to keep going..
SHE LAUGHED AT ME! that was so embarrassing..
When I was about 8 years old my friend Alice told me that all women would bleed once a month, and that this would happen to us when we were older.
I was horrified, and imagined blood coming out of all of our pores. Then I didn't believe her because I was sure that I had never seen any grown up woman I knew walking around with blood pouring out from everywhere.
For some reason, during my first period, I thought that the bleeding would never stop; that once you "became a woman", you bled forever. I remember thinking that this wasn't a very good deal...
i used to believe that if you insert a tampon in you you would start your period... so i tried it, and was disapointed to see that i hadnt started on my period... hee hee
when I was 10. my nurse told the girls about puberty, periods, etc.
I was horrified when I found out about periods and how blood came out of your
"private". After that when ever I had to use the toilet, i would be scared to!
(and of course, i did anyway!)
when imagine how surprised i was when i woke up with blood on my sheets!
I used to think that periods were constant, not just once a month, that women had periods every day of their life after about 13 years old.
Me and my friends used to think that sanitary towels and tampons were something that mothers and housewifes used instead of going to the toilet, to soak up all the pee, because they were so busy all day that they didnt have time to go to the toilet!
When I was younger, maybe six or seven, a group of my friends and I did tennis together. We were putting on our tennis skirts in the locker room when someone noticed two little baskets, one for tampons and one for pads. We noticed the sticky on the pads and we stuck them in our shirt sleeves, to make "grown up shoulders." We also stuck them on our stomachs and legs. Finally, we put one on our panties. We thought they were stickies that helped you not get hurt. We were going to go out to tennis (with the stickies on)when my friend got stuck in a locker! (do not ask me how this happened) and we had to call the male tennis coach to help her out, adding to the embarrassment.
I was about 8 and found tampons in my moms cabinet. I ignored them for a while.......but along came a nose bleed. I thought they were this great new thing- NOSE BLEED STOPPERS! I stuck them up my nose and was running around the house claiming I was the first to find these "nose bleed stoppers." It was the next day I found out what they were after I got in trouble.
When I was 5, I remember seeing my mom putting a pad on, and I giggled at her for wearing a diaper while I was wearing big girl underwear. I didn't know what periods were until I was 11, and until then I was convinced that my mom wore diapers.
I used to think that a period was when a woman peed blood.
When my mother and I were watching TV, a commercial came on about a cork you stick in yourself during a period. I didn't want to get older for fear that I would have to shove a cork up my privates, further and further until it was all the way in there and it would hurt extremely bad.
Upon discovering my mom brought these strange new (to me) tampons into the house it scared me greatly.
On shopping trips I would return home and help empty the shopping bags, only to discover a box of tampax...I grabbed the box and ran around the house shouting 'Moms brought TNT, shes gonna blow the house up!'...parents slightly blushed about the whole affair, my mom took them off me. Upon me asking her what they were for, she replied 'I'll tell you when your older'...older as I am now, she never told me, I might have to ask her one time to see the look on her face.
once when i was about 9 or 10 i found my moms pads i went to her and asked why are there napkins in her drawer and she said they were for a special occassion. so on my dads birthday my mom made this huge dinner and she told me to set the table. and of course, i went and got the pads and used them for napkins! they all laughed and finally told me what they really were...lol
when i was 12, i started my periods, when i first woke up that very day, i thought i had wet the bet, because it was soaked, but when i saw that it was brown, i thought that i must have pooped the bed. I tried to hide it but the rest of my family found out. I robbed a few of my sisters pads and tampons, and piled up 9 pads and 4 tampons in my underwear, because i thought i just couldn't stop wetting myself, or pooping myself. i didnt quite no what periods were, coz i was off for the sex talk in school.Everyone in school noticed i had huge bulges in my underwear, and that the pads and tampons would keep slipping out and hanging below my skirt, coz i hadn't stuck them in. I got so embarrassed, because someone told the teacher that i had robbed something and snuck it in my underwear, so i had to lower my knickers, and the 4 tampons and 9 pads fell out onto the floor, i was embarrassed, because they put me in a diaper for the rest o the day, and told me about periods
Once when I was really little, like three and a half maybe, I found a box of sanitary napkins under the sink. While my mother was out in the living room entertaining a male family friend, I decided to show everyone a new use for those sanitary napkins. The next thing you know, theres little Sara, skating out into the living room with nothing on at all except for a sanitary napkin, sticky side up, on either foot, and one, sticky side up again, on my privates. i dont know...I was a strange little bird.
When I was little, my mom kept a box of sanitary pads in her dresser. I had asked what they were and she told me napkins and I'd be able to use them in a few years. One night we didn't have table napkins for dinner and I said, "mom, you want me to get those napkins out of your dresser drawer?"
I thought I was going to die when I saw blood on my panty. I was scared, kept this to myself and cried silently. Then eventually I told my mom and said its normal for females to have menstruation.
When I was about 2 or 3 I found some of my mothers pads. I opend some finding you could peel off the little strip on the back revealing a sticky layer. I thoght they were stickers and I put them all over the bathroom. My mother fell to her knees laughing when she found me.
