I used to believe that when you flew, the entire airport also flew with you; I had no idea what jetways were, or that aircraft could detach from them!
When our youngest daughter was about four years old, we were flying to California on vacation. The morning were getting ready to leave, she kept running and looking out the door every few minutes. Finally she reported, "It's not here yet!" We came to find out that she thought the airplane would come to our house like a taxi and pick us up.
When I was 4, I was at the beach with my family and I saw a helicopter but I could not remenber the name of it , so I asked my mother...¿Mom, what´s the name of airplane´s brother? =)
In used to think the smoke left by a jet was actually part of the jet. So in other words, I thought jets were REALLY long.
I used to believe airplanes used to drop you off in your backyard when your trip was over. Airports didn't exist.

I used to think that when people went on plane rides, they could open the windows and collect some clouds and bring them back for others to touch.
When I was little, I use to think that the airliners really high in the sky were spaceships. I always wondered why the spaceships left trails of smoke behind them, especially because I was told smoke couldn't exist in space. Then one day my dad let me use his binoculars. I wanted to see what these spaceships looked like, but when I focused in on one, I was shocked to see that it was a regular old plane.
I used to believe that helicopters were the fastest type of transportation, simply because they crossed the sky the fastest.
When i was a kid, my family flew to florida from virginia every summer. When we got above the clouds, I would always look out the window. I thought the clouds were snow, and wondered why we always flew over antarctica to get to florida.
(when i was liitle) whenever i heard a plane passing by i thought it was a dinosaur coming our way, so i ran to the house & hid in the closet.
until i was 10 i thought clouds came from the back of those commercial airplanes
I used to think that checked luggage was put on flying metal disks which would fly along behind the plane...And of course, this was why so much luggage got lost, because it would fall right off. I figured there must be some sort of system to get people's luggage back to them if it landed in your backyard.
I used to believe the tails of Airplanes cut open the clouds and made it rain. One would always fly over just as it started to rain...later I found out we were on a landing flight path, and they always flew over...
Airplanes got places faster because it was actually a shorter distance up there.
I used to believe clouds were made out of cotton candy and even going through them in a plane now I think the wings are tearing apart the cotton candy.
When i was a kid (about 5 years of age) i thought that the white lines that came from the back of the aeroplanes was the passengers spitting from the windows.
I still have no clue about why i though like that.
A cousin of mine used to believe that Guatemala was on a cloud. Every time we'd drop off grandma at the airport, the plane would go up to the clouds to guatemala. My cousin is dumb. lol
When i was younger proabaly 4 to 9 I belived that Arkansas and other places outside of California were in the sky because my mom had family in Arkansas and use to have to take a plane there.
I figured that any place that needed you to travel to in a plane meant it was in the sky somewhere floating on clouds or some levitating piece of land.
I used to believe that Disney World was up in the sky because you have to take an airplane to get there.
