I used to think that when a car would drive on grass the battery would die. Cars that breakdown are for the most part on the side of the road. I used to get scared when my dad drove near grass.
Uno that strange whirring sound you hear in a car as it reverses? I use to believe that it must of been something “winding up”, i guess i thought so because of those little toy cars, and because of that i thought a car could only “wind” backwards until the spring could wind no more. Then you had to go forward! I can still remember wondering what diasters could be if you just keep on reversing!!!
When I was younger, and watched old movies of people driving cars and moving the steering wheel left and right rapidly, I beleived that the faster they moved the wheel the faster the car actually went.
When we were kids, my little brother was convinced that hazzard lights on cars meant that the person driving that car was going to turn BOTH ways
LOL
i used to believe that electric cars had to stay plugged in to a wall socket all the time even when you are driving. i wondered how they could have a long enough cord to go on vacations!!!
When I was a child my mum used to leave me alone in the car with the engine still running, (it was safe to do this in the 70's!!) whilst she would pop in to the shops and I used to believe that the car may be able to drive off on its own. I would sit there absolutely, completely still in case I jogged it enough for it to drive off.
When i waz younger like 6ish i thought that the sign at the back of truck that said " Air brakes keep back 17m" meant that there waz no air there and u coudnt breathe if u went to close.
When I first encountered a childproof lock on a car door, I thought it could somehow detect how old you were when you tried to open it, and that it would not open if you were below a certain age.
I thought that ice cream trucks were the only vehicles that couldn't kill you if you got hit.
When I was in the car with my mother when I was a child, she would occasionally say "oh, we're out of gas," and then would drive to the gas station. I thought that when the car ran out of gas, it would only allow you to drive to the gas station, but nowhere else, or even that it would drive there automatically.
I used to believe that the car wash was a monster trying to eat our car...and us inside of it. I used to scream and cry everytime we had our car washed.
When i was younger and saw the lights on the dashboard when you turn the blinker on, i used to think the car was doing it by itself and was telling my parents where to turn.
I used to believe that cars were propelled by their exhaust pipes and it made perfect sense to me as ferraris had four and skodas had one little one.
I used to believe that there was only one man in the country who put out all the road cones himself.
I felt so sorry for him!!
I use to believe that when the car in front of you put on their turn signal you would have to put your signal on too so that the cars behind you knew that the car in front of you was going to turn. It was only later I realized that everyone was turning.
When I was little I used to believe that when you got your drivers license you automatically new how to get everywhere. I still remember sitting in the car with my dad and asking him this question. He never did answere me, he just laughed.
When I was little my father told me that little men lived under the hood of his car and when he pressed a button they would pee on the window to clean it. I used to try to see them from the front seat, but they were always to fast.
I believed with all my heart that the wish you made on your birthday ( when you blow out the candles ) would come true ( if you blew them all out on one try ) Well, for my 7th birthday all I wanted was a Winnebago! So my parents TOTALLY got me all set up...saying "If you blow them out, you'll get one!" Of course, they put trick candles on my cake....and I couldn't blow them out...and I was devastated over the thought of my lost Winnebago ( thinking this was MY fault because I couldn't do it) Then I found out my parent's put trick candles on the cake, and I was mortified to think they could be so mean!!
my brother used to belive that we could take the car and drive to "the old days". as if it was a geografic...
We used to travel a lot when I was a child, and whenever I saw tire tread on the road (from a blown tire on an 18-wheeler) I thought they had just "shed" the tire like a snake and magically had a new tire under it.
