The world was black and white before colour photographs and colour TV

This one came from a friend of mine - he was youngster, sat with his Grandmother. She was showing him a very old photo album full of black and white photo's. He interrupted her and asked with complete sincerity - "Nan, when did the world go from black and white to colour?"

when i was little n saw black n white films on tv, i thought that evry one was actualy black n white, and that the whole world was in blak n white until they invented colour tv.

When I was little I used to watch a lot of old black and white movies on t.v,and i used to think that the world was black and white then (No colours AT ALL) , until around the 70s when colour came into the world and everything turned that way, thats why the movies are colour now! haha

When I was very young I watched a fair amount of black and white TV shows in the 1980s. (I had a fondness for Car 54 and Dennis the Menace on Nickelodeon). I somehow came to believe that television was always recorded in color ad that the whole world used to be black and white.

Apparently I had gotten the idea from a Dennis the Menace comic (I used to read it everyday, but Sundays inparticular). In one comic Dennis asked his father why TV was in black and white and his father tells him that the whole world was black and white. I was too young to realize this was the joke of the comic.

Still that would be interesting now wouldn't it? :-)

when i was younger, i thought that everything in the olden days was in black and white, due to the fact that everything i saw on television from then was in black and white. i didn't find out until was almost 10 that that was not the case.

I used to think that when they made black & white movies, that everything in the world was actually really black and white until color was "discovered". Man, was I dumb!

When I was little my grandmother used to show me pictures of her when she was little and stuff like that and of corse they were all black and white so I used to think the whole world was black and white not the film on the cameras.

actually, it was my son. when he was 6 or seven..he was a big fan of Nick at Nite..they reran old black and white t.v. shows. " I Love Lucy" " The Honeymooners" etc.... he would always ask me what year they were made....then color reruns ( "Batman', Partidge Family) began to broadcast in color.. He assumed that color wasn't invented intil 1960..not only for T.V. but for the whole world...

hey i used to believe that because tv was in black in white before the 60s, i thought the world was black in white before then. i believed someone dropped a can of paint and it created colours and the world as we knew it was created... i was very young at the time!
