At some point when I was young my Dad explained to me that if you ever ate a sesame seed it would get to your intestines and poke a hole and escape. It would then travel all around your body, until one day it would pop out through your skin. Any time I went to McDonalds I always had to make sure I ordered the "Hamburger Without Seeds", or else I would have to spend a good amount of time picking off all of the seed while evey one else was happly enjoying their burgers ( I never seemed to worry about other people eating them). I would inspect the backs of my hands to make sure the seeds weren't coming out, for some reasonthat were I thought they exited.

It was only when I was about 20 that I realized one day that seseme seeds couldn't possibly do that! Thanks Dad, for a good 15 years of sesame seed fear :)

One time while grocery shopping with my mom and my sister, my mom lost her keys down a grate. Not only did my older sister convince me that we would now have to live in the grocery store, but she also managed to convince me that if we ate watermelon from the store and accidentally swallow a seed, a watermelon would grow in our stomachs and kill us. Still to this day, I refuse to eat a seeded watermelon, and I won't even eat the thin white seeds either.

When I was little, me and two boys always ate watermelons. I ignored everyone that said that the seeds would grow in my stomach if I swallowed the seeds. I swallowed the seeds and when I went home that night, i felt something somewhat hard up my nose. I pulled it out and found that it was a watermelon seed. I ran crying to my mom until she finally convinced me that the seeds had not already started to grow in my nose...

I believed that if I ate watermelon seeds, watermelons would grow in my stomach and squeeze their way out of my belly button, so I tried inserting the seeds directly into my belly button instead of swallowing them. To my great disappointment I never grew any watermelons :(

When I was about five years old, I accidentally swallowed a watermellon seed and my step-father told me that it would grow in my belly. I started crying hysterically because I thought I was going to get fat and blow up.

My grandmother told me when I was about 7 or 8 that if you swallowed the watermelon seeds and you drank too much water the seeds would grow and you'd get this enormous belly. I believed her! She convinced me by showing me all the beer bellys at the lake where we water-skied. There were plenty of them and I thought for the longest time it was because they swallowed the watermelon seeds. Pitiful! ha ha ha

when i was 5 yrs old i accidentlly ate a water-melon seed. i was scared, i asked my mom what would happen if i ate a water-melon seed(i didn't tell her that i did ate it).my mom told me that the seed would be planted in my stomach and a water-melon tree would start growing and it will give fruits which would hang out from my ears, nose, mouth and my belly button and soon i would turn into a tree.i started panicking and i tried to vomit so that the seed comes out but it did not. then later the whole day i tried to avoid drinking water cause if water falls on the seed it would grow faster. and i ate a lot of food so that the seed would fall under the food and don't grow.then for sometime i checked my mouth to see if any plant was coming through there...i actually kept on believing it till i was 11 yrs old...

Okay, alot of kids believed the whole "swallowing watermelon seeds will cause a watermelon tree to grow inside you" thing, but I took this a little farther. When I first heard of this, I hadn't quite figured out what death was, and I had this idea of time being infinite. My reasoning went like this: Suppose that there is a "last day." But then what about the next day? There is no last day! So even if the chances of me swallowing watermelon seeds today are very small, what about tomorrow? Or the day after that? Or the day after that? I thought it was inevitable that eventually, I would swallow watermelon seeds, and I definitely would have a watermelon tree growing inside me at some point or another, and this idea scared me, alot! As you can see, I was thinking way too much!

When I was 5 or 6, my Grandpa used to tell me that if I ate the seeds of watermelons that I would grow watermelons out of my ears. Of course, that just made me eat more of the seeds until I realized that I just wasn't going to grow any no matter how many seeds I ate.

Most people are farmilar with the belief that if they swallowed a watermelon seed, a watermelon would grow in their stomach. I took it a step further when I was little, thinking *whatever* I ate would grow inside of me. Apples made apple trees, lettuce made "lettuce trees" - the best argument was steak would make a cow.
