I used to believe that when I accidentally swallowed an apple seed or watermelon seed, an apple tree or watermelon patch would grow where I was buried once I died.
My belief is a common one; I used to think watermelons would grow inside my belly if I ate watermelon seeds. What is weird is that I'd try to eat all the seeds, wet my belly and lay on the sun to try and make the watermelon grow.
I thought pregnant women had done that successfully.
I just found out three days ago, that it worked. My "watermelon" is now growing inside my tummy.
My grandpa told me that edible part of the watermelon was blue until you cut them open.
My grandmother told me once that I couldn't eat watermelon when it was lightning because water "drew" lightning and it would strike me if I ate watermelon! I was a very inquisitive child. When my older sister was pregnant she told me it was because of watermelons. I was like WHY?! She explained on how when you eat the seeds they go into your belly and it grows & grows and then out comes a baby. I was like HOW?! She told me that it was like real watermelon. The baby comes out attached to this vine and the outside stays inside for other babies to grow in the next time she ate the seeds of a watermelon. Needless to say I was scared of watermelon for years! And to this day I don't eat watermelon seeds & of course discovered the 'reality of reproduction' when I was much older.
My sister who is 40 years old, mind you, just told me that she heard long ago that if you eat watermelon and lie down, you will die. I said from what? She says you drown somehow? Duh?! How is that possible??? She is 40 and still believes this!
I accedently swallowed a watermelon seed on time when i was about 5 and my sister and brother both convinced me it would grow inside of me, and get bigger and bigger until the green leaves came out my nose and my ears and my mouth, and eventually I would die. And there would be a perfectly good watermelon inside of me! EW!
My parents when grocery shopping late one night and bought a watermelon... by the time we got home it was my bedtime but I really wanted a piece of the melon... My dad, wanting me to go to bed, told me my mom had to cook it first... so when I got up in the morning I asked my mom "did you cook the watermelon yet????" My mom was very confused
I used to believe that if I ate too many watermelons I would turn into water...
when i was around 4 or 5 i used to believe that you could eat a watermelon slice whole, chew it, and spit out the seeds like in the cartoons. i was pretty disappointed when i tried that out

My cousins told me that if you eat the white part of the watermelon rind it will poison you... for years I left a respectful inch of the good stuff above the rind... though I was eventually disabused of the notion.

I was 7 and was staying with my aunt in the country. She grew some vegetables there - cucumbers, pea. Once my uncle brought a watermelon from the market and put it among the cucumbers in the garden. I woke up in the morning and was really surprised to discover that a watermelon had grown in our garden overnight. but lol, I used to believe that up to the age of 12 or so, until my mother put me straight.
