When my little brother was about four or five, he explained to me that he expected us both to grow up and our parents to actually become younger from a certain point on. In his imagination, brothers and sisters ALWAYS got married later on - and the parents then ALWAYS turned into their children! It still makes me smile, and I also think this idea is cute... every family remains an intact unit!

Up until I was about 5 or 6 years old, I thought that my great-grandmother was actually my "grape" grandmother because she always wore this blouse that had grapes all over it.

My mom was my Girl Scout troop leader growing up. At our first meeting (way back in Brownies, when I was 6), she told us that in our Brownie troop we would get sisters. What she meant was that all the members of the troop were like sisters, but I took her literally and thought that the other members of the troop would become my blood relatives somehow. Since I was an only child and I wanted a sister at the time, I was very excited, and I kept waiting for us to magically become "sisters." It took a year and a half for me to realize that this wasn't going to happen.

My older sister, whom I love dearly, once told me that I wasn't my parents' child. She said that they had found me under a rock in a back alley.

A year later, when I found out that my mother had to have me cecerian, she told me that my mom secretly referred to me as the "stupid baby". I believed her for years. When I finally told my mom about it a few moths ago, she called my sister and yelled at her. :)

I used to think that my great-grandmother was this lady that worked at a store that I once met when I was 4 and she was showing us her glass pieces (she was trying to sell them to us!)

Both of my grandmothers are named connie, so when i was younger, i thought that all grandmothers were named connie. I went on for years calling all of my friends grandmothers connie. I was clearly a specail child.

My mom used to get me to behave by threatening to sell me 'to the gypsies'. After hearing this a few times, I thought I was the wise one and replied, 'oh yeah, how much did they give you for me then?' Well, she must have been pretty mad at me that time - she replied '$2.75' - and I freaked, truly believing she'd gone at sold me away.

I used to believe that Grandmother's were not allowed to drive. This was due to the fact that neither on of my Grandmother's drove. I was always wondering when my mom was going to have to give up driving.

It's not mine, but when my dad and his brother and sister were little, he and his sister used to tell their brother that he was adopted, because he had red hair and blue eyes (the rest of the family has brown hair and brown eyes) and because he was left handed. He believed them for a while, until he asked his mother if he was adopted.

When i was around 5 or 6 my mom and sister told me that my mum had a special camera that was so small i would never b able to find it,and that she knew everything i ever did b/c of it. At first i didn't believe her, but then when i came home from piano lessons and she knew i had misbehaved, it freaked me out.
