Some of my friends and neighbours and I were on vacation in New Jersey, and as we were walking down the road to the beach, my friend ever so kindly pointed out that there were midgets who lived in the posts holding the lights up.

I, being the gullible "Pokemon Master", believed her. She then went on to explain how the midgets changed the colour of the lights when there were a lot of people waiting. However, if the midget saw someone they disliked, they would make them wait for a very, VERY long time. And the midgets didn't only live in the poles holding up traffic lights, but the streetlights lining the road as well.

....It's quite pathetic that I believed that, really.

When I was about 5 or 6, I used to beleive that there were little men inside of the traffic lights. I thought that the man would sit at a control desk with tons of screens, and when it was time to change the light, he would flip a switch.

I used to believe that there was actually a little man in the crosswalk lights, and if you pressed the 'cross' button lots and lots of times you could trick him into thinking that lots of people were waiting to cross the road, and he would make the lights change quicker.

when i was younger, i believe that there were little elves who lived in the traffic lights, however, they would be fast asleep with their feet on the button that would put on their light. I believed that when the red and yellow light came on at the same time it was because one of the elves made a mistake whilst asleep and pressed his button at the wrong time and that he would get in alot of trouble when he woke up..poor guy..

I used to believe that there were little guys that sat in little tiny labs underneath each and every stop light that changed and coordinated the stop lights. I can't remember if I finally just realized it wasn't that or if I asked my dad w/o letting on that I actually didn't know.

I used to believe that the stop lights had little mice who ran up and down them to flip the light switches from Red to green, green to yellow, ect. Imagine how hard they had to work in school zones with flashing lights.

I used to believe that stop lights were run by tiny little men in yellow suits and construction hats, who crawled up into the base of the light into a big operating room at the top. It was YEARS before I was convinced otherwise.

When I was little my father told me that there was a little man in the traffic light box who controlled when the lights change. My father also told me that the cops would come by once a day and feed the men in the traffic light box.

I used to believe that gnomes lived in stoplights. When they were having a bad day, the light would stay red for a long time. Whenever my mom ran a red light, i wouldn't be able to sleep for fear of the gnomes coming to get me!

I used to believe that the government captured little eleves and made them live in the stoplights so that the eleves could change the light. Also eleves were forced to live inside ATMs (which are actually little rooms stuffed with gold) and they were forced to hand out all the money.
