My dad sold purebred hunting dogs. One customer came to buy one, and he was really impressed with my little mongrel dog. My dad said, “Mary, this man said he would give you $50 for your dog.”

She just couldn't understand why...until I asked if they had all the animals the song listed and how they would all fit in a building.....The song was obviously "Old McDonnald had a farm" ...bummer

When I was around 4, I accidentally made a dot on the center of my forehead with marker. My older brother then said I was the "chosen one" and I was going to be sacrificed. I asked to who. Being on my aunt's farm, he looked around, pointed to a large brown and white goat and said," Him." For years after that I was terrified that goats were out to get me.

If I loved something it would come back to life. I was holding a junebug, and it wasn't moving. My mom told me it was dead, but it was only cold. I had warmed it up, and revived it. It flew away, and I thought it was because I had loved it.
When my sister and I were little, my dad told us the cows on the hills were "Hill Cows" and that two of their legs were shorter than the other two so if they stood on flat ground they'd fall over.
When people said "cats have nine lives", I thought it meant when a cat did something that could kill them, they could come back to life (or "regenerate" like on "Doctor Who") and they could this eight more times before they finally died.
This was further fueled because it was often used in cartoons about cats.

When I was little, (6, I'm 10 now,) I thought earwigs did crawl into your ears. Now I know that they used to be called earwings, for their ear shaped wings. It changed into earwigs, because their pinchers look like the tools for cleaning ears. Mosquitoes actually crawl into your ear, though. If they puncture the eardrum you can lose your hearing. Thats why we have earwax.

I asked my mum why birds don't get electrocuted when they perch on power lines. She told me birds wear rubber boots. I was content with this explanation and imagined birds getting out of their nests every morning and putting on their boots.
When I was a child, I used to believe that the idiom "raining cats and dogs" meant that there were really animals falling from the sky, so I didn't understand when my parents told me that having a dog was too expensive !
