When I was a child I used to believe that black ants were from God because they are harmless, and that fire ants were sent by the devil because they sting.
I once watched a movie,, keep in mind I was little I watched a movie about cats and dogs so they called cats "pussycats" so I asked my mom that if their was such things as a pussydog!!? So embarrassing
I used to believe that all sharks were machines. The reason for this is because I had misunderstood my father when he said that the sharks (on Jaws) were machines and I thought that he were saying that ALL sharks in real life are machines as well! So, basically, I thought that sharks were some form of living machines swimming round the oceans lol!

I use to believe that cats and dogs were the same species; cats were girls and dogs were boys.
When my brother and I were really young (he was four and I reckon I was five) for some reason we thought that another word for a 'robin' was 'gay'!
Goodness knows where we heard it, but we used to stand in the garden of our playgroup and shout "gay!" at any robin we saw.
My dad told me that robins were just sparrows with the cold (and that's why they had red breasts). Why would I not believe him - you only see robins in the winter.
I only found out it wasn't true when mentioned this on seeing a robin to my friends...at uni...when I was 18...
I thought lions and tigers were the same type of animal just that lions were always male and tigers were female.
When i was 8 I thought the expresion 'raining cats and dogs' was true.
until I was 12 I ran outside in the rain to see if it really was raining cats and dogs.
I would stand in the rain for about 15 minuets waiting for the cats and dogs to come down.
When i was 7 I had these weird grey spots popping up all over me and when i asked my mum she said "there just moles" and until I was 12 i thought there were actual moles living inside of me so i slept by a pile of food incase they got hungry
When I was small, my mother would close my bedroom window to "keep out the draft". I thought she was saying "keep out the giraffe", and since we lived in an apartment block I imagined a giraffe trying to peer in through my window each night, which unnerved me greatly.
For some reason, even into my teens, I was petrified that when the lights went out in my room the floor was covered with alligators. I became an expert at jumping from the door-frame to the bed. Some nights I would get in bed and then call for my parents or sister to turn off the light for me.
My husband teases me - asking if he needs to turn on the light for the alligators - if I get out of bed in the middle of the night.
When I was little, for whatever reason, I was terrified of there being a lion in our basement. My sister got so annoyed with me talking about it, that she told me that if you say something is true seven times, it automatically becomes true, and I had already said six times so I better stop now. Needless to say, I never really talked about lions again.
When I was young, I used to think that my dogs would wait until my whole family was asleep then unzip their animal costumes (on their bellies) and pop out to act like we do. I imagined them sitting properly in chairs and fetching cups from the cupboards. This would, of course, end as dawn was approaching and we were about to wake up. They would climb back into their pet costume and resume their place as our pets. Everytime they would roll onto their back for a scratch I would look for the zipper.

I used to think that since caterpillars become butterflies, earth worms must become moths.
I believed that Robins hibernated throughout the year and only came out at christmas.
I used to believe that all dogs were boys, and all cats were girls, and that my cat would grow into a tiger eventually.
I used to go into my Grandad's garden when I was about 5 and lift the seed packets her would put on sticks to watch the earwigs fall out. He caught me doing it once and told me that the would crawl into my ears and bite my brain in the night if I didn't stop. I believed it until I was 13 yrs.old.
I once asked my mom when our cat would learn how to talk.
