When i was a little boy, i used to believe that the parrot were a kind of robots created by the police to spy on us beacause they were always repeating that we said. Besides, in a lot of films or series, the spies were always using a lot of different gadgets to spy on us. I discover the truth when my cousin adopted a parrot so i went to see him and by living with the parrot, i realised that the parrots were just animals like others. Now, when i think about that, i find that i was ridiculous to think about that beacause it's logic that the parrots were true animals

When I was a child, I used to believe that when it was written "tested on animals" on a makeup box, the makeup was really put on the animals like us. So imgained cats and dogs with lips-stick and blush, until I heard someone laugh about me about that !

When I was a child, I saw a spider in my house. My parents said me that it was our spider and that she lived in our house in order not to frighten me.
Everytime I saw a spider I used to believe that it was the same spider.
One day I saw the spider but she was dead so I was sad.
Some days after I saw another spider alive so I understood the truth and I felt silly !

I used to believe that duck eggs had a blue yolk inside, before realising that it was just the shell. At least that would be more unique than just yellow ones.

I used to think seagulls were called seagles. Like a portmanteau of 'sea' and 'eagle'.

I used to believe amoebas wait 5 seconds before they start eating something you dropped on the floor.

I'm not sure if amoebas are classified as animals, but I'm putting this in the animals section anyway.

I thought cows can produce milk without having a baby first. Ironically, I was raised in a vegan family but they never explained it to me.

I used to believe female bulls existed. I thought the difference between cows and bulls was cows were bicolor while bulls were solid-color and more muscular with longer horns.

As a child, I believed that if you were to kill a snake, all the other snakes in the area would gang up on you and bite you to death. To escape this fate, you'd have to move at least 100 miles away. 99.9 miles would not be enough.

This isn’t really my own belief per se, but something I recall from my childhood that was believed to be useful. When I was little, I noticed my mum had taken an empty carbonated drink bottle (unlabelled), filled it with at least 3/4 water & laid it down sideways on the soil of the flowerbed in our garden. I asked why she did that & she told me it was supposed to scare cats away, so they wouldn’t pee/poop in our garden (or at least that part of the garden). Apparently they’d see their reflection in the water & get spooked away? I don’t know, it sounded pretty dumb to me, but I never actually saw a cat react to it, so I still don’t know if it worked or not, LOL. My mum certainly believed in it, though & I think one of my aunts tried the same trick, so it must’ve been a thing back then (this would’ve been in the 1990’s). Sounds kinda silly, doesn’t it? 🤣
