My parents used to tell me that my hair looked like a rat's nest in the morning. So, at night I would roam around my room looking for giant rats.

I remember as a child thinking that the amount of White on a cow was the amount of milk in them, it wasn't until I saw a cow that was completely White and mentioned to my boyfriend about it needing to be milked and him laughing that I realised how ridiculous that idea was

When I was about five years old I believed that Puppies were boys and kittens were girls and that they grew up, got married and had puppies and kittens!

When I was little, before I learned animals even. My dad told me the black and white things in the fields were called moo dogs. I believed that until I was about 4.

When I was 2 I was on a city bus with my mother. There was a seeing eye dog who came on with a blind person. I loved animals so this was very exciting for me. I then proceeded to ask my mother if that doggy had a "skin mommy" or a "fur mommy". She managed to keep a straight face while she explained to me that that doggy had a fur mommy, just like I had a skin mommy and that fur mommies give birth to fur babies while skin mommies give birth to skin babies. That cleared up any issues I had with the matter and I was satisfied.

When I was little I thought cows married horses, cows were all female and horses were all male.

When I was very young I had a nanny that could catch bees and remove the sting to make them harmless and let me play with them before they died. When she left no matter how many times I got stung trying to play with bees I would respond to my mum's warnings with "Bees are not bad! They are my friends, only that one was a mean one!". It took nine bee stings to enlighten me and sixteen years later I'm still alergic!

When I was 3, I saw a commercial on tv with monkeys. My parents convinced me that I was a monkey since I liked to climb on everything!

I used to believe my Australian Cattle Dog could understand me when i spoke to him in spanish. I went to a spanish emersion school so i was fluent at the age of 6. I would have full out conversations with him daily.

I was in a wood one time and my Auntie told me (cause she knew I was scared of snakes) that snakes grew in ferns! loads of them round the main paths, so I wouldn`t go off the path! I have had a fear of walking through ferns ever since!!!

When I was maybe 4 maybe even younger, I noticed all of the birds prancing around in my front yard. I decided that I wanted one of them...So I ask my dad how I could catch one, because everytime I ran up to them the flew away. He told me to throw salt on them. (?? who knew) So everyday I would take a salt shaker and attempt catching birds by throwing salt on them. Years later, I ask my daddio why in the world he told me to throw salt, of all things, on the bird. He said he figured if I could get close enough to a bird to to throw salt on it, then i was close enough to catch it. lol, silly, but hey..makes me smile.

I used to believe…

That all lions were male and all tigers were female. I also thought all dogs were male and all cats were female.

My father told me that some breeds of chicken have four legs. I spent much of my childhood looking for this illusive bird every time we drove past a farm!

My father told me when I was little that if I stayed in the bathtub too long the "drain spiders" would come up and get me. I was deathly afraid of spiders. I believed this until my early teens. Thanks dad.

I used to believe that if I could put salt on a bird's tail it would make them unable to fly and I could hold them. No one told me until I was caught in the backyard after my first year of college with a salt shaker in my hand going after some birds. I couldn't believe my own mother had lied to me.

There's an aquarium within walking distance of my house. In the wall around their penguin exhibit, they have a small cave with fake eggs. When I was a kid, I thought the eggs were real.

I told my mom that I wanted to take one of the eggs, so I could have a pet penguin. Deciding to humor me, she told me our house wasn't cold enough to keep a penguin, and asked where we'd keep it.

I said we'd keep it in the freezer, of course!
