My brother told me that cat's beeped when you squeezed them. (Lightly of course) He'd squeeze them and beep and I thought it was the cat. I thought I was squeezing wrong for some time.

When I was really young my dad told me that the bails of hay that cows eat were cow eggs. I didn't believe this until I saw a Cow standing next to one in a field. Lucky I only believed this for about a year.

I used to believe that those tiny dragon flies with the blue body were dangerous. My grandmother told them they were called 'darning needles'. She also they have been known to sew up peoples mouths, especially if they talked too much.

I used to believe I was a dinosaur when I was younger because I never got sick and was always stronger than everyone else. I Don't know why I associated reptile like creatures to never getting sick but I did!

When i was little,i used to believe that whenever i was playing outside and i heard a crow caw (or whatever you call the noise they make) it was time to go inside and stop playing, because the crow knew it was getting dark and that after dark all the monsters came out.Ever since i've always thought it was time to go inside once you heard the crow :)

When I was little, in the 80's, fur coats were still very popular for women, even in the relatively mild climate of central Maryland. My mom badly wanted one, but we couldn't really afford it (and I gave her a very hard time about wearing a dead animal, even at the age of 5).
She would still look every time we were in a coat store, and so I would follow her through the racks, touching each one, because I liked how soft the fur was, even if I didn't approve.
She pulled one floor length coat off the rack, held it up, and said "This one is Australian opposum". Knowing that North American possums are fairly small animals, and not understanding that multiple pelts got sewn together, my eyes got huge and I said "How big do they get there?" She laughed til her face turned red and she had tears streaming down her cheeks.

When driving through Maryland, my Dad and I would see a lot of cows. I was so upset one day because I thought they would all be turned into hamburgers. My Dad told me they only use completely black cows for hamburgers (apparently there is no such thing!). When I saw a black cow, and was upset, he told me he saw some white on it, so it was safe. I believed that one until I was 14!

I cried for a couple of days, throwing terrible tantrums until my parents decided to grill me until they could figure out my problem.

I finally discovered my horse wasn't actually being broken into bits, but would rather come home "broken" to ride.

My Dad was a farmer. To keep me out of the farrowing house and away from the aggressive sows, he told us that the rats would run up our pant legs and bite our knees.

I was terrified of rats for years. Although I'd still sneak into the farrowing house to see the cute piglets - I'd just keep an eye out for rats.

When my husband and I first met he shared with me that he believed all zebra's were extinct. He had never seen one and would not believe me until I took him to the zoo and physically made him look at one.

I used to believe that dogs and cats would poo out of the tips of their tails. I mean, that's why they had tails; that's what their tails were designed for.

Growing up in Florida I always saw cows and horses in pastures together. I always thought the cows were boys and the horses were girls. When they had a baby together, if the horse had a cow it was a boy, obviously, and of course a horse baby would be a girl.

when i was 5 years old my parents brought home our first dog. it was a tiny, white, fluff ball or a puppy and after the excitement i started crying and wouldn't stop. for five minutes my mom attempted to calm me down and ask me why i was crying about getting a new dog. i told her that i was scared it would grow as big as clifford the big red dog and didn't want it to live with us.

I used to believe all dogs were male and all cats were female. I still call dogs "boy" and cats "girl."

I used to believe that when the sun is shinning and the rain is falling at the same time, an elephant is giving birth..

When I was little my great-aunt had a storage shed out back turned into a home for tons of stray cats. To get us to wash our hands after we played with them, Aunt Ruby would tell us "If you swallow a cat hair, it'll turn into a worm in your stomach." I knew that dogs and cats sometimes got worms so this made perfect sense to me. I believed it well into high school.

When I was little I thought lions lived in my living room at night after we all went to sleep. I literally would not leave my room unless one of my parents was awake.
