When I was five, I asked my Nan why birds jumped and people walked (I know, nosey child) and she told me that if birds walked (or their legs moved independantly of one another) their brains would explode. I believed that until a year ago. I'm 25.

I used to believe that the big white ovals on killer whale faces were their eyes, until a year ago. I'm 20 now, and I've been to Sea World twice.

When me and my little sister were kids, I told her that peacocks make the sun rise and set. She believed this for years, until in she decided to stand up in class and share this fact with everyone else. We are both in our 20's, and I still make fun of her for it.

When i was little I had my own theory on how the dinosaurs died out. I figured that the dinosaurs were so big that the herbivores ate all the plants and died out since there was no food for them. Then all the carnivorous dinosaurs died out since they couldn't eat any of the herbivores.

Once when I was about 9 or 10, I thought I had maggots in my mouth. I went up to my teacher and said to her 'I've got maggots in my mouth' and the whole class burst out laughting. I'm now 30 and can't for the life of me remember what made me think I had maggots in my mouth.

My sister told me that spiders lived in lightswitches. I was afraid of the dark and spiders so you can see my delima. I believed it for years.

My brother and I believed that snapping turtles lived in our neighbor's leaf pits in her back yard. We stuck bamboo poles in the leaves and could feel the turtles grabbing on.

When I was little, I got stung by a wasp on my foot. I was resting my foot inside, sad because I was missing out on a beautiful summer day, and I told my older brother what happened. He said, "Oh, that sucks, now all of your toes will disappear!"
When my toes didn't disappear, I just thought I was extremely luck. I believed him until I was 11 or 12

When I was a kid, I was looking at a book about dogs and I noticed the breed called Border Collie. It didn't seem to look much like any Collie that I'd known about, and I doubted that I'd ever seen a Border Collie. That all seemed perfectly reasonable at the time, since where I leved in the U.S. was nowhere near a border with either Canada or Mexico. I even thought perhaps if you had one of the more familiar kinds of Collie dogs and then moved to somewhere near a border, the dog would then grow to look like a Border Collie like in the picture I saw.

When I was 5 or 6, the family cat started acting very strange. I asked my mother what was wrong with her, and my mother told me that "The cat is in heat." I didn't know what that meant, so I thought it was the same as when the car "overheated". After that I told my friends to be careful because "The cat is overheated".

We had a collie and she had clumps of matted hair behind her ears. I used to believe that when I squeezed the clumps it made a light come on in her mouth.

When I was 3, my grandfather told me I could catch a bird if I sprinkled salt on its tail. One day I found a baby bird that fell from its nest. I covered it with a blanket, and ran inside to tell my mom. "I need the salt, I'm gonna catch a bird" I screamed.

I used to believe that bird perched on telephone wires to keep their feet warm

when i was young i thought every animal had the ability to regenerate severed parts, it just depended how large the part actually was. i.e. a bear could grow back an ear, a human most certainly could not grow back a leg, but a turtle might, and if i had my own hand cut off, well- if i tried really hard, it might grow back.

When I was young, my grandmother use to tell me not to stick out my lip and pout because a small bird would come and take a crap on my lip!

When I was about 6 the Apollo landed on the moon, this was on the evening news every night. At the same time our neighbours had a large alsatian dog named Pollo. Night after night I fantasized about how Pollo survived in his small cubicle and how he landed on the moon...
