I used to believe that all cats were girls and all dogs were boys. I wasn't quite too sure where kittens and puppies came from. Did Santa make them?

Of course i thought flea markets sold fleas!!
i always wondered why anyone would bother to go and get contaminated with fleas!
When I was about 8, while walking in the woods with my best friend, we heard a dog barking. She whispered in a scared voice that it was a German Shepherd. I gasped, not knowing what a German Shepherd was. I assumed it was some type of freaky monkey/monster combination.
I used to believe that earwigs go into your ears and irritate you and then lay eggs in the brain.
I was 17 and i used to work in a cafe and make sandwiches in the morning, we used to get new orders of salads each morning and one morning they mixed our order up for spinach, and inside the box there were earwigs everywhere!
I was panicky and started screaming when one was near me so I left my job :P
Up until I was around six or so, I believed that I was really a cat, living with humans. So, naturally, in kindergarten when we did self-portraits, mine was a cat. This made my teacher quite angry. I was amused.
Once when I was a kid and visited some relatives, they told me they used to have a dog but had to put him to sleep because he got sick, and they were worried he might attack their son. I thought that they were worried they might have to kill their kid too if he got infected...
I used to (and still do) think that spiders have big colonies hidden somewhere near the center of the earth. Whenver you kill or step on one, they use their dying moments when they're still alive and trying to crawl away but their legs are broken and they're all squished up to scream and call to their family members at the inner core. I think this because whenever I find a spider, I'll kill it, and then in the next week, I'll kill like fifty bajillion spiders in my bedroom. And yeah, I'm weird.
i had a dream when i was really little about 3 huge bees and they were talking- saying that they were going to sting me if i didnt love them... my mom woke me up out of this dream telling me i was talking in my sleep saying "i love you! please dont sting me!" i never once thought: "WHOA TALKING BEES!" i just listened to them and to this day i never got stung by a bee! i swear! and i dont kill any bugs either... just in case.
I believed catbunnies did exist just like we have mules etc until I was like 14
I think that cats are either
a) Just as smart as we are, but their voices dont exist... yet
b) Are smarter than us, but think we are really stupid so they dont talk to us
i know it sounds stupid... I am kinda crazy
When i was young there was a long driveway leading out of our farm onto a road. On the other side of the road was a forest. My Dad used to tell me that giant Bulls and Cows used to live and roam in the forest and that they werent too friendly. I always believed him, and although i have not since looked for them, the myth hasnt been proven(or disproven) since!

I used to think my cat's tail was her baby. I don't know why I thought that, but I used to bring her tail up to he face and tell her to "kiss her baby."

I used to believe that horses laid eggs. No one ever corrected me...
I know, everyone's been through it.. but we had a puppy that was too excitable and knocked down me and my younger siblings. So my parents took him to a farm, where he would have more room to run around. Even though I soon learned what that REALLY meant, I never put it together for my OWN dog until I was about 30! Heyyyyyyy, you mean MY dog went to...!!
When I was about 8-10 we had chickens, and one morning we found all our chicks laying dead in their yard, soaking wet. My Mom said that they were so dumb, they looked up when raindrops hit them and drowned.
The sad thing is that I believed it until I read other similar beliefs here, tonight.. I googled it and no, they just die of being cold and wet. I'm 38. Honestly, how could wild or farmed chickens survive if they were that dumb?
The REALLY sad thing is that I've kept chickens on my own for the last five years and still believed it! I just kept the chicks in the house in a box until they were "old enough" to be out in the rain. Since it was working (they had feathers before I put them out, so weren't as susceptible to chills) I figured I was saving them from drowning. :)
When I was younger I really wanted a pet chinchilla. My parents were against the idea so one night after dinner to stop my questioning my dad told me the reason I couldn't have one was because they were vicious. He explained that a friend of his had a chinchilla and when he went out of town his house keeper accidentally left the lid off of its cage. As the house keeper was vacuuming, the chinchilla escaped and ate her leg off.
For years I believed this without questioning. I actually kept up that belief until a friend of mine mentioned wanting one in middle school. I told her that that was a horrible idea and went on to explain the story. It wasn't until after I had finished that I realized how ridiculous that story was.
I used to believe birds were all as big as pigeons, so once when my family and I went to the French coast and a seagull sat on the wall next to me, I shrieked and was convinced it was a vicious dodo who would kill me with that sharp beak and those red eyes!! I was petrified of it. I was 12 years old, lol
One time when I was little, I was innocently playing in my room when all of a sudden a blue jay hit my window. I looked over and saw him flapping and scratching at the glass, I thought he was trying to get me so I ran to my parents screaming.
We later found out that there was one-way glass on my window and the bird thought he was fighting another bird.
When I was 5 or 7 years old, i used to believe that lions are made in a factory.
