I use to believe that I could understand what my cat was thinking/saying. So I translated for about 2 years.

When I was a child, I used to believe that the tongue the dog exhibit when they are exhausted (walking, running) was a ham slice.

When I was little I used to peek around the door to my room and watch what my parents were watching on TV when I should have been sleeping. One night they watched Jaws. After that I was afraid of the toliet and thought a shark was going to pop out and get me. I was also afraid of the wave pool. In the deep end there were bars under water blocking kids from getting into where the wave machine was and I thought that was where the sharks were kept.

As a kid in I think 5th-6th grade, I was already scared of spiders, but after reading a book with lots of information about them, I no longer feared having a web spun in my throat. However, I learned about an Australian spider called the funnel web that was supposed to be as deadly as a black widow. The book said if it bites you, you turn blue and then die within three days. Because of this, whenever I visited my aunt and uncle, I was constantly afraid for my life because there were funnel-shaped webs scattered around the lawn. Of course, they live in Montana, in the US, pretty far from Australia...

When I was younger, I was deathly afraid of spiders in general due to a story my brother told me, saying that "If you squish one of the little spiders, a big one will come along while you sleep, crawl in your mouth and spin a web in your throat so you choke to death". I freaked out whenever I saw a little spider cause I was afraid I might accidentally kill it.

when we wne to my aunts house for a viset she had a back room that had a ladder going up to the roof..so my brother and i being curious wanted to see what was up there..before we could climb up my parents told us that my aunt had giant rats up there and if we opened the door they would get out and bite us

I used to believe that if you held a Guinea pig upside down, it's eyes would fall out.

One night I had a dream that a moth landed on my head and my skull caved in. I was CONVINCED this was a sign from someone/something that it would happen. I would run screaming the other way when I saw a moth or a butterfly...I'm still very scared of them.

I had a great theory when I was younger...

1. Squirrels are evil.
2. They are trying to kill all of the humans so they could gain world domination.
3. Different colored squirrels have different rankings in their cult. (Grey squirrels are the lowest, then black, red, flying, and albino on the top.)
4. The little lizards down in Florida (the ones that lose their tails) are in on it too.
5. Sasquatch may have a small part.

I used to believe that crocodiles were green because they were uncooked

When I was younger, I used to believe that this metal ball on the top of an electric pole was a bird that froze on top of the pole during the winter months. As summer came, I saw the same thing, and wonder why it didn't move.

I used to think that a lot of pets you could own were actually wild animals. Ferrets, hamsters, lizards, turtles, snakes... I didn't realize you could buy these animals in a pet store until I was 12.

When I was about four my mom told me that millions of years ago people used to be chimps. And I went 'Did grandma used to be a monkey?' and I was sure that everyone was born a monkey and as they got older they turned human.

this one is my ex girlfriends apparently her older brother convinced her as a kid that an egg was a chickens period i had to coax her out of this belief several times but if i ever got mad at breakfast id say hey is that blood in the yolk.

when i was 8 i belived that smurfs were real and that people cant see them but cats can. so when i discovered that robins eggs were blue i came to the conclusion that robins and cats ate smurfs which is why they fought in my backyard and were always under the pine tree in my backyard. i learned later that our cat was hunting rabbits in our backyard and that smurfs didnt exist at the age of 10
