Cats and dogs are the same species

I used to believe…

that dogs were the males and that cats were the females of the same animal type

I used to think that cats were girls and dogs were boys. I may have confused feline and feminine, but their behavior reinforces my assumption.

Since most cats were smaller, 'cuter' and more colorful than dogs. I used to think that cats were actually 'girl dogs' !

I used to believe that all dogs were male, and all cats female. I don't know where I got this idea, but it is amazing how many seem to have believed it.

All the males I knew were loud and played rough while females were quiter and alot more gentle. Since dogs had rough hair, barked loudly and seemed to be aggresive. All cats had soft smooth fur and they were quiet and gentle. So I thought all dogs were males while all cats were females.

Up until my mid-teens, I thought that all cats were girls and all dogs were boys.

I used to believe that all dogs were boys and all cats girls. They got together and the cat had both puppies and kittens...absurd, I know.

It appears unusual, but I never believed all cats to be female and all dogs to be male (even though I'm German, and you neutrally say "die Katze" (f) and "der Hund" (m) in German). I was half convinced our dog could talk, though. I distinctly remember imagining he did on one occasion.

When I was young I thought all dogs were the boys (the dads) and all cats were the girls (the mums). and they got married and had babies...

I used to believe that cats and dogs were the same species, except that cats were the girls, and dogs were the boys. I mean, don't cats look feminine, and dogs look masculine? Well, I thought so.

when i was a child i thought that the dogs and cats can talk with people.And also, that the cats were female and the dogs male.
Now i have two cats and four dogs.

I thought I was alone in thinking that all cats were female and all dogs were male, but I see now what a common belief it is for kids. I now have seven cats, male and female, but I refer to all of them as "she".
