As a very young kid (around 7 or 8) I got a childrens book called "How to dig a hole to the other side of the world" and I knew my purpose in life. You can actually see several of the pages at Amazon.

Digging everyday after school behind the garage for several weeks got me a hole I could barely climb out of. When my parents finally realized I was actually making some possibly dangerous progress they filled it in as I sobbed uncontrollably. As obviously silly as it is, I'll never forget how upset and bitter I was that day.

I used to think that all socks were reversible and it took until 9th grade gym class for someone to say "Why are your socks inside out?"
Flipped my whole world around
and my socks

When I was very young, my parents did some renovations on our house. We were putting on a second floor, and since we were staying in a house in a different neighbourhood (that meant I didn't see them building) I thought that to put on a second floor, all one had to do was go to Home Depot and buy one. I thought we had to stay at another house because it was so loud when the second floor got put on that it would hurt our ears.

I believe that fairies are real. My grown up friend told me
That if i sit in the garden with no one els, and sit there for an hour they would come out. But i did not see anything yet.

I used to believe there was a guy living under our sink holding a bucket that he would use to catch all our water that went down the drain.

When I was very young, my older sister told me that you had to sleep on the same pillow every night or your head would fall off. She even said that once, her pillow accidently got switched with another pillow, and she had to get surgery to reattach her head!

I never used to get out of bed as a kid. This was because I though there was a monster under there and if I got out they'd know I was there because somehow they didn't and that they'd drag me under my bed. I also used to stay very still.

I used to believe that my mom would just individually memorize the specific washing instructions for every piece of clothing I owned. It never occurred to me that she would just read the instructions on the tag sewn in the back.

I used to think that whenever you saw a movie or a video online, it was being preformed live, so every time somebody wanted to see it, the characters would need to get out and do it all over again.

From age 3 to about 6, when people said, "shut the door, you'll let a draft in," I thought drafts were huge, stealthy, pale-grey bats that must be kept outside at all costs.

When I was a kid, I used to think the reason my parents locked the doors at night was to keep packs of wolves from coming into our house. We didn't even have wolves where I grew up.

When I was little I read a story about a monster that lives under your bed and when you get out in the night to go to the bathroom, it would come out and bite off your leg. I believed it and took a giant leap out of bed every time so the monster couldn’t catch me. I still turn on the light every time I have to go the bathroom at night, because it can’t live in the light. Just to be sure.

When I was young my parents had a water bed. I believed that, since there was water in it, there must be fish, and since there were fish there must also be sharks. I was terrified that a shark was going to eat me if I got on their bed.

My brother told me that if my feet were uncovered at night somone or something would come and chop them off. To this day I hate it when my feet are not covered by a blanket at night.

When I was a child I used to believe that there were monsters in my room in the night. I was very scared. Then I used to turn on the light and so I´d fall asleep.

I used to believe that when families moved, they just directly traded houses with the person whose house they were moving into. When I was disabused of this notion, I was still very confused as to where the other family went.

When I was younger I had a trundle bed that had a second pull out bed below it. I was convinced that the Grinch lived in the extra bed and if I hung my hand or foot off the bed while I was asleep he would pull me under.
The Grinch wasn't just going to steal Christmas, he was going to steal me too.

Our house had a very steep stairway to second story with a metal bannister. When I was little, I used to "FLY" down those stairs, but when I told parents about it, they said "YOU DID NOT!"; and so I learned to STOP FLYING and just use the bannister and descend the stairs like grownups did. (But sometimes in my dreams I can still do that FLYING--and it always feels so FUN and FREE.)
