I used to believe that water-heaters were radioactive because my parents obtained a "Radiation Hazard" sticker, and placed it on our water-heater. This stayed with me until about age 11

I used to believe that if it was extremely quiet and if I thought loud enough that people would be able to hear me. Once I actually thought I heard myself :/

I use to believe that all the homes were taken by the road side because every where we move it was a house down a long path.

When I was little I used to believe that when I was in the bathtub and the water was draing that I could get sucked down the drain and that would be the end of life as I knew it! So as soon as the water started to drain, I would feel this sense of fear and panick come over my body and I would hop out really fast and thank my lucky stars I survived another bath!

When I was little, we had an answering machine which was supposed to tell the time someone called before you hear the message. This didn't actually work, I guess the machine was broken, because before every message it would always say the same time: “Sunday, 12AM”.
I kept wondering why people always called us at the same exact time every week.

When I was 4 I had the misconception that hair grew in water, which is why when I cut all my hair off and my mother wailed for my extraordinary explanation, I cheerfully replied, "don't worry mommy. It will grow back when I take a bath."

My mom always told us if we sang at the dinner table, we would go to bed crying. At the age of 16 I finally scraped up the courage to ask her why. She said, "Because if you sing at the table, I will beat your butt!"

I used to believe that conditioner was also called 'rinse.' I believe this is from the directions to "Apply Shampoo and Rinse" on shampoo bottles.

I used to be scared of monster under the bed so i used to believe if i put at least three stuffed animals on each side of me the monster would tire of grabbing toys and leave me alone.

when I was 5, after watching Beauty and the Beast, I was convince that when a teapot would produce smoke, it was simply because it was mad!
I believed this until I was 7.

When I was little my big brother told me our dad could read minds, because every time I cleaned my room I would shove things under my bed and my dad would always say "Did you clean under your bed?" I was kinda freaked out

When I was little (five or so), my mom must've told me not to flush garbage or something down the toilet. I assumed that if I did, she would know somehow. For many years afterwards I pictured a room like an aquarium with people watching a stream of water through huge windows, seeing what came down with each flush. I never figured out how they would tell which wads of toilet paper came from which toilet, though.

I used to love taking baths as a child, and it would always take forever for my parents to get me out. Therefore, my dad made up a lie that once he began draining the water out of the tub, I would eventually be sucked in with it if I remained in the tub. He told me it had happened to my brother once before, and he ended up coming out of the sewer in our street. I cried after hearing this and for years after, I would get out of the bath and then drain it- I wasn't taking any risks.

i used to believe that your reflection was you from another dimension and everytime you move away, the person in the mirror dies.

I used to believe that the only way you could obtain a pool table was by winning it on The Price is Right. Therefore, I told all of my friends my parents were on the show since we owned a pool table.

When I was little, my older brothers told me that if I looked at the microwave while it was running, it would burn my eyes. I didn't watch my food while it was in the microwave until I was 10.

When I was young I used to take a run a leap into bed because if I stepped I thought a hand would grab me and after watching a creepy film..... I thought a ghostly
rotten hand would grab my foot and a ghoulish monster would haul its self
up and attack me!! And when I watch horror films now I do it....

I used to believe there was a little old lady who lived under my bed and would nibble at my ear every night. Being one of the 4 girls out of my 11 cousins, the boys would pick on me; they made me truly believe this little old woman lived under my bed and I was absolutely terrified of her.

I used to believe that if I didn't close my closet doors before I went to sleep a monster would come out to get me.
