When I was little my older brother told me that the monster dimension was on the other side of the mirror and that they would get me if I used the bathroom with the lights off. 15 years later and I still have to turn on the lights before entering the bathroom

I use to believe that the pink bag in the shower was a flower. I filled the flower with pee. My mom found it and said to me, Stop peeing in my enema bag.

When I was much younger (possibly 4-7 years old) I used to spend my play time running around the the hot Houston sun - video games... nope. All summer long I scoured the backyard with my cousins imagining ourselves in some sort of beautiful and wilderness filled jungle. We had quite an imagination... amongst the "jungle" of a backyard, there were scattered *tree support rods* (Spelling*) used to help the healthy growth of young trees. Of course, we did not know this at our tender age of naievity.

Now, to give you a bit of a visual, the rods are described as followed: Rusty old rods about 5 - 5 1/2 feet tall. They are at most 4 centimeteres in diameter. Furthermore, at the foot of the rods, there was a triangle shaped design (another rusted piece of copper that was welded on). The edges were sharp and stuck out about 4 inches on either side of the rod. This was where a gardner would press down with his/her feet to dig and secure the rod into the ground.

Much to our dismay, we were way off on what exactly these "rods" were and what they may have been used for. My eldest cousin, at the time, was maybe 7 or so years old... He used to tell us and believed it himself likewise that these rods were the devil's unused canes growing out of hell - unused because of old age. The fact that they were rusted and "burnt looking" and sticking out of the ground - leaving the sharp edged triangle unexposed until completely yanked out of the ground - made this fabricated story seem so REAL and true. Now, we never feared the rods and merely respected their space and went on with our expeditions without dismay.

Kids... they say and think the darnest things.

i used to think there was a ghost in my shower when the shower curtains were closed and i would be in the bathroom.

When I was little my grandfather would tell us a story. "There once was a little (boy or girl) named (enter name) who came to visit" (I don't remember all of it), but he would say it in such a quiet deep voice, that all us grandchildren would get close to hear, and he would go on, and at the end he would scream "And the Boggieman Got Them" - We would all scream -- TO this day, I will not be in their basement alone, and I walk up the stairs backwards, because Im afraid of the boogieman! - Im 26!

I used to believe that if something was moved from its proper place and not put back it would get really moody and wouldn't work!
Of course, it turns out now that I actually have OCD, so maybe this was an early sign?

I believed that if you didn't wash yourself right after exercising the sweat would absorb back to your body and make the exercise ineffective.

Thanks to my brother, I feared many things. One being that someone or something was hiding in any corner or any nook or cranny in my bedroom. I thought witches lived in my closet and behind the curtains. Also, gun wielding midgets hid under my dresser waiting to shoot my ankles.

When i was in my tween years and started using a curling iron, my brothers made me believe that if i left the house without turning the curling iron off, it would explode and burn our house down. Then i realized that it had a self power OFF option and wanted to slap my brothers in the face for worrying me to death!!

As a child I thought that to drown in the bathtub meant that somehow you would go down the drain. Didn't really see how that was possible.

When I was little my dad told me that there were ceiling trolls in the basement and to scare them off I had to stick a piece of cheese to my forehead when i went down to get the laundry...

Pretty sure my dad laughed everytime I did it, and I just thought it was because he was big enough to not need the cheese anymore...

I used to believe that if you bathed with the light off at night, when you pull the plug out a hippo would come up into the bathroom through the drain.

I used to believe that if I stayed in the bathtub to long, I would shrivel up and turn into a tiny raison...Yep. My mom is a LIAR!

When I was 9, my mum told me that some places on the attic floor would collapse if i even touched them and that I would fall to my death....I then fell against one of these boards and fainted from concussion. I woke up an hour later screaming, I died! I died! My parents were baffled. Duh.

My grandparents used to have a picture of a tiger hanging in their hallway. I used to believe that the tiger would stare at me as I passed by. Everytime I passed by the picture I would stare back because I was afraid that if I looked away the tiger would jump out of the painting and eat me.

I used to believe that the people in pictures could actually see you and spy on you and the people in reality knew what you were doing because they could see me through the picture. I was terrified to do something wrong or get undressed in front of photographs in the room I was in. I always had to turn them around or somehow get out of their line of vision.

I was CONVINCED that there was a huge, slobbering grizzly bear living either under my bed or just out of sight in my closet. He would never be seen during the day because, naturally in my childish mind, he was noctural. DUH. So to cope with the terror bear, every night, I would go through the motions to avoid bear attacks. I would control my breathing and play dead for as long as I could. Then I would eventually drift into sleep, only to repeat the procedure the next night.

I used to believe that if I got on the bed or slept on the bed with my shoes on, snakes would start to come up from under the bed or from inside the mattress and start to bite me and I wouldn't be able to get off the bed and I would die right there. I don't remember who told me this, but whoever did, they must have done a pretty good job of it because I believed this until I was 10+. At least I never get on the bed with shoes on now.:D
