When I was like 3 years my grandfather died and a few years later I discovered a hole covered with a metal plate underneath the stairs in our basement.
Until I was 10 or so I kept thinking that my dead grandfather was buried in there.
Until my parents built a wall there so there is no space underneath the stairs I was scared to hell whenever I passed that hole!

When I was small and allowed to set up the bathwater myself I believed that the water could get so hot that it would finally freeze.

I used to think a giant crocodile lived under my bed, so I sent my little sister under there to get rid of it for me.
When i was little I used to believe that the people in the photographs framed in my room could see me. I would have to turn them all around before getting dressed so they wouldn't see me.

i would sit on the counter in the bathroom and sit in front of the mirror talking to my reflection actually thinking someone was on the other side..
When we were small, I convienced my little brother that our reflections in the mirror were our exact opposites and that they were all evil. His name is Sal so I told him that his reflection was named Las and that Las was an evil demon who would do him harm if he ever did anything to make him angry. A few weeks later we went on vacation and our hotel room had an entire wall that was one big mirror. Poor Sal was petrified and when my mom found out why she made me tell him the truth. However, I think he still believed that reflections were evil for sometime after that since I did see him run really fast past mirrors a few times after that.

I used to believe there was a tony ballerina under the drain of the tub that made the water spin when it drained.
When I was younger, I used to believe that if I didn't sleep with all of my limbs concealed by the blanket, a man with an axe would come in the middle of the night and chop them off.
When I was little, sometimes my mom would let me use her bathroom (to take bubble baths with my Barbies). Sometimes, I see thin, brown, coiled layers in the toilet bowl. I would get terrified, thinking that there was a disgusting snake living in our pipes who came up into the toilet to shed his old skin. Actually, these thin, coiled layers were shavings from my mom sharpening her eye pencil and forgetting to flush it away.

I believed until I was 17 that blankets were inherently warm. They seriously aren't. They don't generate heat at all.
when i was about 7, my family moved. All i knew was that we were living in one house one day and another the next.
As a result, for a long time i thought that the way people moved was to put some stuff in the trunk of their car and drive around until they found a house they liked; as in 'i want this one' and its yours
i used to believe that if i crawl under my bed i would be locked in. like a jail.
When my daughter was little, she used to think that the gurgling noise made by the bathwater going down the drain was the result of a very thirsty dragon that lived in the sewer.
Too cute!!
I used to believe…
for some dumb reason, I used to think that after you took a bath, you had to drain the tub and refill it with some special concoction for your skin and you had to soak in it. This little after-bath thing was called a "nine". I have no idea where I got that idea from.
i used to believe that when i turned out the lights to my room if i didnt get to my top bunk in time a zombie would appear out of no where and eat me..... so be4 i turn out the lights i always plot out the fastest way to my bed then take it
I used to belive their was a killer Pink Bunny living in my basement, this was becasue of a old easter decoration lying in the shadows of my basement.
Later on in life I thought the Basement was infested with spiders, due to the cobwebs clinged to the ceiling.
For whatever reason, when I was young, it was usual for us at my house to get a Christmas tree a little too tall to fit in the living room. So my father would cut off a bit of the top to make it fit. For years, I thought that was what was meant by "trimming" the Christmas tree.
I used to believe there were tiny elves in the refrigerator that would turn on the light when they heard you coming. I would always try to sneak up so quietly, but could never be quiet enough to trick the elves.
When I was about 9 or 10, I used to believe that if you had visitors in your house ntohing bed could happen. For example: no robbers, kidnappers etc. I made myself believe this after watching the news with my parents and getting scared from all the horrific stories....I still find comfort in this at times....
When I was very little, a kindergarten classmate told me that naked pictures of people were very very bad and they were called pornography. I was to young to grasp this concept, however I remembered the word. I spent the next week secretly angry at my Grandparents. I thought they were bad people because they had a few classical art paintings hung throughout their house, in which half naked people and cherubs were painted. I told my mom one day, "I love Grandma, but I wish she didn't have so much pornography in her house." My mom was shocked, she burst out laughing. She set me straight.
