i used to believe that if nobody were home all the rooms and items inside would cease to exist until somebody came back.

When I was about four, I was terrified of the monsters that I thought lived under my bed. Luckily, my dad told me he "didn't allow monsters in the house." I believed him, and never had a problem with monsters again.

When I was very young, I asked my mother what would happen if the house burned down, and she said not to worry because we have insurance and they could replace everything. I thought for a long time after this that the insurance company knew exactly what we had in our house and would give us replicas of everything we had. I was very amazed by this and comforted that all my stuffed animals were safe.

When I was a kid I believed that the Sears repairman lived under my bed and I was scared to let my hands or feet hang off the side of the bed. To this day I keep my arms and legs safely under the cover - and I'm 45!

Until I was about eight years old, I thought that moving to a different house meant you traded houses directly with another family. I learned it didn't work that way only when I curiously asked my mother one day what happens if you find the house you want, but the people who live there don't want to move to your house.

i used to believe that there was a monster under my bed and if i got of my bed they would take me and kill me before i get a chance to scream!

I used to believe in "skin monsters" that when i was in my bed i had to be compleatly covered by my blankets so the skin monsters couldn't get me. if my feet poked out or my hands showed, they would get me for sure. But because I never could keep my head under the covers my head was exempt from the rule. Although I never really imagined what would happen if they got me, still to this day when I turn out the light I need to run and dive into the bed and get under the covers as quickly as possible or I'm sure they are going to crawl out from under the bed and get me. All except for my head of course.

I used to believe we couldn't have satellite television because the trees were too tall around our house. Yes, my Dad really told me that was why.

I had red carpet in my bedroom, and i thought that when the lights turned off it turned into lava-so i would put down books leading to my bed and hop on them like stones so my feet wouldnt touch the lava (carpet). Everyone knows books arent affected by lava....

My brother told me that each drop of water that came out of the tap cost 1p...scaring me into massively reducing my water use...good I suppose.

Me and my brother believed that the garbage disposal was really an alligator living in the pipes that eats the leftover food. That's why we weren't allowed to put our hand down the drain, because the alligator would bite if off.

My older sister told me an earthquake was an animal that hid under your bed and shook because it was scared. She even helped me put food out so it could be my pet.

When i was little my mom used to tell us that our clothes were alive and woke up when we were sleeping and had parties in the closet, same went for our barbies :/

i used to think when i was little you took a bath you would get sucked down the drain.i dont now but i was petrified back then

I used to think that all closets were connected, so I wore stuff that belonged to somebody else and someone else wore my clothes. That made perfect sense as to why my clothes disappeared for a few days every week (obviously, they were being washed) I used scissors to cut a bit off my clothes, so I wouldn't get confused. My mom was so angry at me when she found out what I did. I can still see her face to this day.

I used to always get out of the bathtub before draining it because I always thought I'd get sucked in with the water

I watched a lot of SciFi and adventure TV when I was a kid (a brother who was 8 yrs older and into that stuff helped). One day I asked my mom where the oxygen tanks were. When she asked me what I was talking about, I explained that the house HAD to be equipped with oxygen tanks because otherwise, when we closed the windows in the cold weather, we'd eventually use up all the air and we'd suffocate. But we'd survived many winters quite nicely, so there MUST be oxygen tanks in the house somewhere. Mom laughed and explained that the house wasn't airtight, that plenty of air got in. I was a little relieved and a little disappointed, I'll admit. The house seemed so...ordinary after that.

we used to believe that there was a madman under our bunk beds christina used to be frightened because she was in the bottom bunk ( we are twins) and every night we'd be terrified because we thought he'd kill us when we were asleep

— Voldia and christina ( twins)at home : under my bed

i used to belive that when i was in bed no matter what a scary monster would open my door and kidnap me so i used to always lie under my covers and make myself go to sleep
