I use to believe alligators lived in pit toilets, like at some state parks. I refused to use the restroom there.
When I was little I thought grocery-bought eggs were dinosaur eggs. In an effort to save the dinosaurs, I would steal eggs from the fridge and hide them under a bed and take care of them.
I used to believe that bad guys could come up through the toilet. This came from speculation by my neighbor friend. Until I was about seven I would flush the toilet and then run out of the bathroom as fast as I could because flushing let them know you were there!
I used to believe that when I turned off the light in my room, my floor would fill with what I'd call "gremlins" that would suddenly zip off and hide whenever I turned on the light. I used to step carefully towards my bed and was fairly convinced all the gremlins were watching me and avoiding my feet. There were hundreds of them, all with huge eyes and grinning faces, all knowing they were tricking me.
I used to try and trick them by spinning and suddenly putting my foot down, or flipping the light back on suddenly.
I never saw them.
I used to believe that if I wasn't on a rug in the kitchen while the microphone rang, the I would sink into the floor.
When I was 5, my Mum's ex told me when I misbehaved that my Grandmother had set up microphones in every room in the house and could hear everything that I said. I believed this until I was about 9 or 10 and until then was constantly paranoid about what I said even when I wasn't misbehaving.
i used to believe that there was a shadow monster lurking in every dark room so id run really fast whenever i had to go through the dark. im pretty sure i started believing this after i watched a particularly creepy scooby doo episode when i was about four. i believed this for the majority of my childhood and have been weirded out by the dark ever since.
I used to feel sorry for inanimate object like floors and couches for always being stepped/sat on. When I told my aunt, she asked me if they talked to me. I never told anyone ever again, and eventually it went away. I grew up to be an extraordinarily empathetic person, and sometimes, I might still wonder how the walls feel. :)
When I was younger I confused the word close, and the word clothes. I would constantly re-read the backs of fireworks wondering why they told me to light fireworks under my shirt.
"Use only under close supervision."
I read it as:
"Use only under clothes supervision."

I used to believe that the toilet wouldn't flush if the power was out.
I used to believe that there was a little man living in the bathtub drain who drank all the water when you unstopped the drain. If you didn't get out before all the water went down he would swallow you.
I got my sister to believe that when I would go into my closet and close the door, I was taking an elevator up to SEARS. She would beg to come, but I wouldn't let her. I would even make elevator noises with my mouth!
i used to be obsessed with this thought that my reflection in a mirror was my long-lost twin vanessa, and she was trapped in the mirror. yeeeeeah, i had an imagination.
When I was younger, I'd go to my grandparent's place to swim in their pool. Sometimes my Grandpa would forget to take the pool cleaner (like an underwater vacuum) out of the water when we went in (our family calls it the creepy crawler). I would become so distressed, and start crying because I thought the creepy crawler was going to suck me up and eat me alive!
I used to believe that those little metal balls they sometimes put inside bottles of nail polish were just dried polish.
I was a smart kid.

I used to believe that a person could fix ANYTHING with Scotch tape.
When I was about 11, my mom & dad bought me an Avril Lavigne poster and a Justin Timberlake poster. Both of them were in black and white, and Justin and Avril were both frowning in the posters.
Everytime I got ready to go to bed, I stared at the posters and they looked so evil. I was afraid to go to bed, because I thought that their eyes would start darting across the room randomly. Creepy...
once when i was about 4 or 5, my sister who is 3 yrs older than me told me that there were crocodiles under our inside deck. i believed her and bawled my eyes out, and i didn't like walking down the steps in there or look inbetween the steps because you could see under the floor and over to the dark hole where the cross-space was. you can only imagine how confused my mom was when i told her that there were crocs under our house.
I used to be, well, till kind of am, terrified of revolving fans! I always thought they were robots and they were out to kill me at night. I would duck under my blanket whenever the front {its big "eye"} you look at me! It was very creepy.
