In my old house we used to have floor boards, and one would always creek when I stepped on it, and I used to think that something was hidden under there, like old treasure or something, so one day I finally plucked up the courage to get out of bed at night, peel back the carpet and unscrew the floor board. I had a flash light so I could see underneath, and I heard what was like a ghost voice saying, go back to bed!!
So I quickly screwed on the floorboard and put the carpet back and ran to bed. I wouldn't walk on that part of the floor ever again. I always used to have to hold my breath for 5 seconds then run past other wise the ghost would come for me at night.
It's only recently that I found out, it was my dad telling me to go back to bed.

My mom collected these tiny little glass figurines when I was a kid, and she said if I touched them they would shock me because of static electricity. I believed that until I picked one up at the age of 22.
I believed that wooden furniture was carved from a single enormous tree, (much like marble sculptures) i didn't understand about joinery at all. It wasn't until i began high school & we had woodwork classes that the penny dropped!
When I was about 9 or 10 my brother told me the story of Medusa, and said that he'd had a dream that she was hiding under my bed. Since then, every night when I turn out the light I have to take a running jump into bed in case she grabs my ankle. I'm now 21. It's very sad.

When I was younger I used to believe that when someone moved out of their house they traded houses with someone else.
I used to believe…
mirrors use to scare the crap out of me, i thought that a mirror was a window to a different world that was back-words from ours and if you were nice here you were mean there.

I used to believe pedestrians were the thing that makes the microwave heat things.
When I was eight, I watched "Watcher in the Woods". If you have seen the movie -- it's pretty creepy for a Disney movie. For the next 10 months, I was afraid to go to the bathroom alone because I was afraid I'd see the "mirror girl". I had to ask my mom to come with me. When she wasn't available I would go as fast as I could, heart beating in fear, and never looking in mirror for fear I might see a fictional character from a stupid Disney movie that shouldn't be a Disney movie.
i used to belive that someone could come threw the door and kill me with a spacegun(but that was when i was 3-4)
When I was 4 or 5, my mother told me if I put anything in the A/C vents in our house, the entire building would blow up, and kill us. I beleived her til I was 14 ='(
I used to believe my mom's douche bag was a toy for me in the bathtub.

I used to believe…
That the closet in my livingroom was the entrance to a secret world...When in truth its just where my dad kept old vcr's and video tapes.
When I was about 4 years old I used to think it was rude to take your shoes off in a hotel room. I wouldn't even put my pajamas on. I would like on top of the covers fully clothed with my shoes on. I used to think it was someone else's house and that they would come home any minute to find me sleeping in their beds and be angry.
i always thought that my reflection in a mirror was just another person who did everything that i did at the exact moment. i would always try to move real fast and unexpectedly to see if the reflection could mimic me. then i tried to go through to the other side to beat that guy up but he would always push me out.
When i used to go to my grandmothers house there used to be a turn in her stairs, and the step was in the shape of a coffin and i would think that if i stood on it a vampire would get me.
When i was small i watched a cartoon about vampires and i got so scared that i had to sleep with my blanket pulled up to my neck, and i still do it over a decade later.
I also used to think my teddies had feelings. Once i had a toy Husky dog and i had a dream that it bit me. It scared me so much that i put him in the corner of my bed, but because i thought he had 'feelings' i had to throw a blanket over him each night so he wouldnt get angry and bite me lol.
I used to belive if I said where I wanted to go in the house before I sleep,my dream would take me there somehow. But now I know that It was my parents moving me around!
I used to believe that under my bed was a cave that only monsters could access and as long as I didn't open my eyes or hang over the bed, they would leave me alone. I also thought that there were snakes at the end of my bed (but only at night) and I would go to sleep with my legs tucked up in a fetal position.
When I was about 2 or 3, my uncles, Larry and Bill, used to lift me up so I could touch the Ceramic Bald Eagle mounted above my grandparent's dining room entrance. When I touched it, they would make a screeching bald eagle sound. I didn't know they were doing this though...
When I was 15 and my grandfather passed away and we were moving my grandmother to an apartment, I saw the bald eagle and asked my grandmother if I could have it. She said, "Sure" and I grabbed it and it didn't make any noise. I thought the batteries were dead and asked where the batteryies were supposed to go. About 10 of my extended family members looked at me with a perplexed look on their faces, then after I told them what I thought, they screamed with laughter at my expense for about 20 minutes.
I'm 35 now and love to do the same thing to my kids and grandson. :)
