when i was little we had a vent in our kitchen floor when i asked my dad what it was he said it was a heat duct (i heard duck) and that heat duck monsters lived down there and would pull me down if i got to close. for the longest time i wouldnt even go near there..

Like many other children, I believed that if I had a foot or hand dangling over the side of my bed, something was going to grab it from underneith and pull me down with it. I still only put my foot or hand out if I can comfortably put it on the bed outside the covers. Also, I thought that there were vampires, witches and various monsters that would pop up on whatever side of the bed that my back was facing. The only way that I fixed it was to put my bed up against the wall and sleep on my left side. I still only comfortably sleep on my left side and only with my husband behind me and touching my back. If there is no one in bed with me (Husband or Kid(s)) I sleep on my stomach. I am 26 years old.

When I was a kid, I was horribly afraid that vampires would come and suck my blood. Since they can't be seen in mirrors, I was afraid that when I stood in front of the bathroom mirror to brush my teeth, one would come and attack me. So, I always stand with my back to the wall (which is directly across from the mirror) so if one comes in, I can see him before he attacks. How that would help, I'm not sure but it did make me feel safer. :D

When I was a kid, my bed was pushed up against the wall and since it was near a window, I always heard weird noises at night (cars going by, cats, birds, etc.) so I deduced that people/things lived in my wall and at night they would reach out and try to grab me. So, I always slept on the part of the bed furthest from the wall because I thought they're hands were like an inch from my back and if I turned over they would grab me and pull me into their "wall-home"

When I was aged probably three to six, i used to think that the noise when you take the plug out of the bath (that wooshing, shrieking sound as the water goes down) was the noise of ghosts and skeletons coming up the pipes to get me - I guess it let the water out, and let the ghosts in. I was terrified when my mum or dad would leave me alone in the bath and say "when you're done, just pull the plug out." I would get out of the water, kneel on the edge of the tub, yank the plug out as fast as I could and then sprint naked and screaming into my bedroom and hide until I heard all the water had gone down and the scary noise had stopped, so I could go back and get a towel.

I still really don't like that sucking, shrieking, wooshing noise when I take the plug out of the bath and try to get out of the bathroom before it ends!

When I was little, there was a huge mirror reflecting the staircase of my aunt and uncle's house. Well, everytime we were over there, Grandpa would walk up the stairs and his reflection would show in the mirror. I was shocked and amazed because I thought Grandpa was in the mirror! I thought there was a secret entrance that I didn't know about and that when I got as old as Grandpa I would be told about it or found it.

My mother did this when she was young.

She was doing the dishes and complaining to her father that she couldn't get a pan clean, so he told her to put a little elbow grease into it. She in turn searched the cupboards for the elbow grease can while he laughed his but off. she had no idea it wasn't a cleaning product

When I was younger I used to watch the animated childrens show of Beetljuice. One time a particular show scared me and I never got to watch the end of it, since then I was terrified of some unknown thing hiding under my bed. To this day if I go to bed I occasionally run and jump

I used to believe there was a monster under my bed. If I let any of my limbs hung of the edge, the moster would rip them off. If I stood too close to the bed, he would pull me under. So, I always slept in the middle of the bed (never fell out!) and I would leap on to my bed from as far away as I could.

we had a good few people who would call our house and we would just let the answer machine get it. i always thought that they could hear me, why not i could hear them, so i would stand completely still and not say a word every time the answer machine got it. (sometimes i still do)

One night when I was about six I snuck a peak into my sisters room when she was having a sleepover. Shes a bout 5 years older at the time. So i looked in and i saw a scene from the movie they were watching. They were watching a chuckie movie (which i do not know which one it was to this day) and the scene was when he jumped out of the clothes in the closet and beat the woman to death with a bat. I got over that fear about one year ago. I'm 12. :(

My brother was vacume cleaning cuz my mom made him. And so he told me that if I stepped too close to him while he was vacuming, he would vacume my feet up. Now when I vacume, I make sure to be at least 1 foot away from it.(Ha ha. Foot)

In our childhood home, the bathroom door was located directly across from the basement door. When I was 6 years old, my sister (9) told me that when I flushed the toilet a killer whale would come out and eat me, but if i didnt flush it the pee-pee monster that lived in the basement would be waiting for me at the top of the stairs to take me away. However, the pee-pee monster was scared of the light so he wouldnt come out if we laid a flashlight at the bathroom door pointing at the basement. My only hope, according to her, was to point the light at him, flush the toilet, and run away from the killer whale as fast as I could. The funny thing was...she wasn't being mean to me, she honestly believed it herself and was only attempting to protect her lil bro from the "bad things" lol

I believed, until I was about 8, that if you flushed the toilet, the ninja turtles would come out and get you, because you were messing up their sewer. If I did flush the toilet, I would hide behind the door until the water went all the way down.

I've always done my own laundry, and our washer and dryers are in the basement. One night, when I was 12, I went down to move the laundry over, and I turned on the light and suddenly a bat flew right by my face. I shrieked and charged back up the stairs, terrified that it was flying after me. Mom kept asking me if it wasn't really just a black bird, but I promise you, I'm positive it was a bat. I was so scared that I was laughing and crying at the same time! To this day, I'm tense while going into the basement, and I always leave myself in a position where I can run if I have to!

I used to think that there were people inside my closet so I'd sit inside my closet with the door shut and talk to them.
