One evening when i was very little, i was stupid enough to put my finger in the lamp where the lamp bulb is supposed to be, since the lamp was plugged in i got a really shocking surprise.
I starteled ran up to my mom crying, saying that the ”Electrick mouse” had bit me.
For a long time i belived there lived a grey mouse in there with a yellow glow.

My Mom had me clean the bathroom as one of my chores, and she always bought the same cleaning product. A foam cleaner called 'scrubbing bubbles'...with a little cartoon picture of bubbles with happy faces, and scrubbers on the bottom of them. I would spray the bathtub and sit there searching for any sign of the the little scrubbing bubbles to start moving around, but they never did. Eventually I would have to give up and start wiping the tub clean, but I always felt that I should have waited longer.

Once when I was little I licked my mother's deoderant because it smelled good. When my tongue began to dry up I thought that I was being punished and had forever lost my power of speech.

When I was about five years of age I had my own room and I still wasn't used to sleeping withought my mother...and in the middle of the night I would have to pass by my kitchen to get to my mom's room and on the way there I would see my kitchen trash can and I thought of it as a monster that would eat me because the top swung open and close. So I would scream and bang on my mom's door so the trashcan wouldn't eat me!

When I was little my older sister said she was tired and just needed a little extra strength to make it through the day so remembering the label on a medicine bottle I had seen in the cabinet I brought her a bottle of Extra Strength pain reliever. I had no idea it was for headaches I just thought it was a bottle of extra strength.

When my parents would say something about "wasting power" when I'd leave a light or something on, I thought that we only had a limited amount of power to use, and when we used it all up, there would be no more electricity for the whole house. I thought this also had something to do with the numbers on the electric meter, and that we would run out of power when the meter got to all 9's.

We had this picture of an old voctorian house in the hallway just outside my bedroom. I used to think that if I stared at it for too long I would get sucked in and I'd see a long line of people. The people at the front would jump out after you got sucked in and I'd have to go to the back of the line and wait my turn to get out of the picture.

Don't stare at pictures

My dad had this White Lions album. To scare the bejeesus out of me, he'd stick his hand into it and yell "it ate my fingers!". He'd pull his hand back out with several fingers bent so that they looked like they were misssing. To calm me down he'd put his hand back in, and bring it out with the fingers "back". For a long time I wouldn't go near that album, think it was his stash.

When I was about 5, I thought that glue in hot glue guns was inside the cylinder, and that shoelaces were two separate laces in one shoe. Now, obviously, I know better.

I used to believe that there was a gorrilla hiding in my Nan's shed and used to sneak food out to it but left it outside the door. When it had dissappeared (because my grandparents had taken it), I would put more out. I didn't realize for years what was actually happening!

My sister told me that turning the light switch off and on repeatedly wasted electricity, and that I should just stick with one or the other.

Obviously this translated in my mind to the idea that turning it on and off used electricity on top of what teh light already used, so you actually used less energy if you just left it on.

I used to think that my house was bugged. That even if I was alone my parents could know what I was saying or doing, because they had hidden tiny cameras about the house. On TV, after all, if you did something bad you always got caught on camera. Sometimes I even wondered if people could bug my thoughts.

I used to think that my parents had tv moniters in every room of the house and whenever they were watching tv they would watch what i was doing. They never told me this, i just guess it myself......... i still don't know to this day! However, it is a clever idea

Growing up, I always thought that the piece of furniture that you put your clothes in was called a "Chester Drawers". I just figured that it was named after someone named Chester or something. Then one day when I was 21 years old, I was looking through a furniture ad in the newspaper when my eyes flew open wide, I looked at my best friend who was sitting there and I shouted, "Chest Of Drawers"! She looked very puzzled. After I explained, we both had a good laugh and whenever one of us sees a furniture ad like that, we joke that we should buy some of those "Chester Drawers"! hehee!

top belief!

When the cold winter wasnt too far off, i remember playing by the door, and my mother said 'dont play at the door because a draft will come in under it' .
I interpeted this as 'A Giraffe will come under the door' , and had a visualization of a Giraffe, sliding in from under the door.
