When i was little, i used to wonder what happened to 'upstairs' when no-one was around to see it...I thought things were only there if someone was looking at them. Therefore, when you walk down the stairs, upstairs vanishes until the next time somene walks up there...

Once my two older brothers told me that we had huge rats with rabies living in our house, and that if you stepped on the floor they'd come out and bite you and you'd get rabies and die instantly. I only walked on furniture until my parents told me the truth...

Can't sleep, rats will eat me...

my dad told me once when the power was off, and i was looking in the fridge...that, "If you keep the door open too long, and the light is off, the food will get mad at you and jump out at you." so, until i was about 11, i always asked someone else to go into the fridge to get something for me.

I used to watch a lot of spy movies when I was young, so I thought if I pressed certain cabinet handles and doorknobs, a secret door would open somewhere in the house.

My perents used to have an indoor ficus tree. I belived if I went behind it, I would be transported to another dimension. In this new world there were huge monsters made of mud!

When I was little I always went to my grandma's house while my mom was at work. My grandma has this 'candy drawer' in her kitchen and she would always have candy in there. Sometimes I would sneak into the kitchen and grab a couple Hershey Kisses and put them in the garbage can so the garbage man could have some candy too! I also poured pop into there...incase he was also thirsty.

I used to believe that there was a tiny person who lived in my refrigerator who turned the light on when i opened the door, and shut it off when i closed it. I believed this for years until eventually the fridge got old and one day the light didnt turn on and in panic I asked my older sister if the little man in the fridge had died or have moved away and she showed me that the light bulb had blew.

There is a little man who lives in the refrigerator who has the job of turning the light on when you open the door. He turns off the light when the door is closed. I have to replace the burned out bulbs for him, as he is too little to go to the store for replacement appliance bulbs. Just because a person becomes an adult does not mean he or she needs to stop believing a childhood belief (smiles).

My siblings and I would play a game by running around the house flipping light switches on and off. My parents kept getting irritated and finally told us that each time we flipped the switch, it would cost 10 cents. So to save 10 cents for our parents, we'd flip the switch on and never turn it off. They didn't realize this until a few months later and had to explain they actually paid for the time the light was on and not the actual flip of the switch.

When I was still small enough to use a crib, it always seemed at naptime that the garbage truck was rolling down the alley near my room to pick up trash. Whenever it approached, I seriously believed that it would make an abrupt left toward my house and crash through the bedroom wall just to scoop me up in its claw and crush me in its compactor. I always talked to my Bert doll and held him in my arms when I heard the screaming and of its inner components approaching..."it's okay, Bert. It won't come to get us today..."

I used to believe that books would get a headache if you put them back on the shelf upside down. I still can't bring myself to do it.

I used to believe that there was a tiny soldier in the electric outlet, because one time I stuck my finger in the outlet and it felt like a pin poked me. I imagined a guard with a bayonet inside guarding the wall or something.

When I was very little, my sister told me that there were crocodiles under the deck next to our garage just to scare me. I believed her and decided to peek under the deck. The people who lived in the house before we did had a dog. There was a dog toy under the deck, so I thought that the dog got eaten by the crocodiles. I was scared half to death and quickly ran to the other side of the house in hiding.

When I was four, I used to think that the light inside a refrigerator would stay on even when the door was closed. One day my parents were cleaning out the fridge and left it completely empty, so I stood inside and closed the door. The light went off. So I got out and never did that again.

That when you moved house, you wanted to change the neighbourhood, not the house. A big truck would come and give your house an injection, then pick up the house (with you and all your stuff inside) and take it to wherever you wanted to live next.

My mom used to tell me that there was an invisible powder that people used to sprinkle on their carpets and floors that could tell where you had walked through their house. I was always scared to death to walk around someone's house. Especially to the bathroom. Sometimes when I go to someone's house that I don't know very well I still think about that powder. It still gives me the creeps.
