When I was younger the scariest place in the world was my grandpa's closet because he always told me that there was a booger in it. I always pictured this big green man living with my grandparent's clothes. It baffled me that they didn't call the police. Later I found out that he kept a shotgun and didn't want me to go playing with it.

I can remember believing that bears were hiding in my closet, under my bed and in my dresser drawers. I used to rock the bed when trying to sleep. One night I must have rocked too hard and a glass figure got knocked off and broken. I was terrified, absolutely positive the bears did it and were waiting for me to get up so they could eat me.

I believed that a werewolf lived in my mothers wardrobe and if sprayed with water from the spray bottle I was given (courtsey of my mother) that he wouldnt get me. She tells me that when she would still be awake and watching TV she could hear me spraying the bottle into the air!

When i was about 7 years old I thought that after school all the children came home & hid in my closet & secretly watched me, i was frightened to change my clothes anywhere but the bathroom for years.

I could never figure out where they hid when i opened the doors though.

when I was younger, my brother convinced me that in the back of our bedroom closet was a portal to another world. The door could only be opened if you knocked on the wall at 12 midnight. In this other world, you could fly around on hoverboards (Like in Back to the Future) and drink Cream Soda (which at the time I had never tasted before) all night long...

this magical portal later moved to the wall in our laundry room.

When I was four I had a dream that there were blue pit bulls in the closet that ate my sister. After that, my sisters would make me take the blame for their wrongdoings and make me go to bed really early by saying that they would open up the closet and let the blue pit bulls out to eat me.

When I was little I used to believe that there was a colony of small friendly dragons living behind the wardrobe in my bedroom - they were maybe a foot high, and slim, with pointy noses and tiny little wings which didn't work - and they would come out into my bedroom at night, but go back between the wardrobe and the wall in the morning.

My mom used to store old toys, baby clothes and other random things on the top shelf of my bedroom closet. I used to believe that there was a whole world of things up there and had many dreams where my brother and I would sneak up and play around. The space would be so big in my dream that we could walk around and discover all the great things we had up there. It wasn't until we moved (when I was 10) that I was actually able to see it was just school papers, christening outfits and old games. What a disappointment.

When I was growing up, our bathroom was connected to my parents bedroom. They would always have their closet door wide open. I could see closet open and was deathly afraid a huge creature would explode from it at any moment tearing me to pieces. I spent very little time in there.

When we went to our family friend's house when I was little, my brother and their son would try to keep me out of his room, so they told me that there was a monkey in the closet. For some odd reason, this relly terrified me and whenever I would go in there they would open the closet and pretend to reach for something and say they were getting the monkey. I would cry.

when i was in grade 1 or 2, we were shown this video to make us not afriad of monsters in the closet. it was about this kid who indeed had a monster in his closet, eyes looking when his mom had his back turned, funny noises, the whole bit.
anyway, it all turned out that the monster just wanted a friend becuase he was scared of th edark too, or somethng akin to it.

i am 18. to this day, i have never been able to sleep with a closet door open. thanks a lot, public school system.

After watching the TV version of The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe I really believed that my wardrobe would miraculously open up to another world. I tried going in there several times and knocking on the wood before I gave up!

I used to think the cast of "the Munster" lived in my closet and when the show came on i would sneak up to my closet and see if they had left yet

I am only 13 years old and I remember my belief quiet vividly. When I was about 6 or 7 I had a twin bed, but I was afraid that the "monsters" came out of my closet at night when i was sleeping. The "monsters" would come out to tickle me while I was asleep; so I would never fall asleep without the covers on my feet and I would always fall asleep in the exact middle of my bed so they wuoldn't be able to reach me. For some reason I can't fall asleep with my feet out of the covers or if I'm not sleeping in the middle of the bed to this day.

My mother had to check under my bed with a brush to make sure that there were no lions hiding there. When in bed the door of the wardrobe had to be open so that it's mirror, which was on the outside, would not be facing me - I was afraid of something jumoping out of it when the light went off.

I used to think that there were people inside my closet so I'd sit inside my closet with the door shut and talk to them.
