When I was little I couldn't sleep if I saw any light in my room (even layed a towel on the floor at the bottom of the door). I thought that if I couldn't see the monsters, they couldn't see me.
when i was about three or four i used to live in this apartment and then we had this really hugh closet in the hallway. I had to pass that closet to get to my room too. I used to think that there was this blue horrible monster in the closet and when i would walk by it, the monster would come out and eat me. One time, I had to go into the closet to get my shoes and then i realized that there was no monster in there.
When I was younger I always believed that there were monsters in your cupboard that came out in the middle of the night to get you....even to this day I cannot sleep with the cupboard door open...even a little bit.

Well I have 3 boy cousins, and whenever my best friend was at my house, we would run in my closet and jump ontop of all the stuffed animals in there. So when I jumped ontop of them I thought I was hurting my stuffed animals and I would complain to my friend that we were hurting them and she'd keep telling me to shut up.
i used to believe that my favourite book character lived in my wardrobe but was invisible so i would scare my mom when she heard me talking to myself in the wardrobe!! lol :)
I made a bed out of balsa wood, with a foam mattress and sheets (I was a creative kid). I left it in the closet for the house gnomes. But they kept making the bed, so I never had proof they slept there. So I placed a note on the bed, "Please leave the bed unmade so that I know you were here. Thank you."
My friends and their kids stayed over a couple of weeks ago. Their 5 year old is afraid of monsters in the closet. Well, I sleep in my closet because it is a walk-in the size of a bedroom (in a studio apt.). We were getting ready for bed and he said that he couldn't sleep there because there were monsters in my closet. I told him there were no monsters because I sleep in there and there is nothing scarier than me!
Well.. Kids are usually afraid of monsters under the bed, but in my case it was a vampire in my closet.
I watched the movie MONSTER SQUAD as a kid, and that's where I got the idea.
He was there every night. I had to sleep with my back to the closet. I was afraid that if the vampire knew that I knew he was there, he would kill me. (I guess it was just his hideout!)
When I was 4, I use to tape my closet door shut and stuff stuffed animals under my bed believing that the boogieman can't get inside my room.
I used to believe in closet monsters. Before I slept at night, the closet door and my room door HAD to be shut closed. Im now 21 and I dont believe in closet monsters anymore, but my closet door and room door still HAS to be closed for me to be able to have a goodnight sleep.
When I was little my friend and I thought that my bedroom closet was a time machine. We would go in there and spin around and come out and be all dizzy. We would then walk around my house and look for things from the past. We would say my cat was a saber tooth tiger.
I used to think that when i would go to bed, a portal would open up in my closet, and spew a neverending legion of undead soldiers. When i had a dream that was exactly like i explained it and i woke up, i realized it would only happen in my dreams and never in real life.
I used to believe that sequins grew on trees-- when I was small I refused to wear sequined clothing. I now know the truth, however, I still don't like wearing sequins. :)
I used to believe that at night lazers would come out of the wall plugs and zap me, so once I was tucked in I stayed put. I used to run really fast to the bathroom because then the lazers couldn't keep up.
I used to believe that both the ghost of Abraham Lincoln and the ghost of my dead hamster lived in my closet. They had a lot of fun playing with each other all the time, and if I was playing alone I would often chat with them.
When I was younger, my older brother would always tell me that a guy would pop out of my closet and eat me if I werent asleep when my parents told me to. And one night I didnt listen to them and my brother hid in my closet and jumped out and pretended that He was the psycho. I was really scared
I used to believe that a white gorilla from an episode of Star Trek lived in my closet. I had gorillas issues.
When I was five I believed the Crypt Keeper lived in my bedroom closet (from insisting upon watching tales from the dead one night), I wouldn't allow my mother to turn the bedroom lights off at night until the closet was closed, so the keeper wouldn't get me as I slept.
I did, however, hold nightly conversations with her (I decided it was a female), about damn near everything.
... To this day I won't sleep without my closet shut.
