I used to believe that the monsters in my room couldn't see me at night
as long as I remained perfectly still and pulled my covers up to my neck;
my sheet and blanket made me invisible to them (somehow they couldn't
see my head -- lucky thing, too, in the interests of breathing). I slept with
my arms under the covers for years, even in the middle of July.

I used to believe there was a man who lived under my bed, and when I got out of bed to turn the light off, I had to jump from as far as I cound back onto the bed incase he grabbed my legs before I got to the bed.

I used to believe that at night there is a monster cutting around the edges of my bed with a chainsaw. So I always made shure my legs or arms don't stick out otherwise they would be cut of.

That under the bed live lots of things with hands that would grab your ankle. I used to think that if you jump on to your bed from a distance the hands couldn't reach you. I still do this.

When I was a little kid, I would say under ten years old I kept having a dream that there was a door under my bed that lead to some scarry places. So when I wasn't sleeping I was scarred to look under my bed because of that litle door that contains scary things.

I used to believe that a gang of monsters lived underneath my bed; and while they were very small, they had the ability to stretch their arms long enough to grab me if I should happen to hang a limb over the side of the bed. Most of the time I envisioned them under there passing the time by playing cards...just waiting for an opportune moment. If I slept with stuffed animals or dolls on either side of me, then they would produce an invisible barrier so that the monsters couldn't get me, but I was obssessive about making sure I was in the VERY CENTER of the bed, because my animals could not protect me should I happen to hang a limb over the side of my bed.

i used believe that when i went to sleep in the dark ,4 strange men would crawl out from under my bed andspin it round and round when i had my eyes closed,or open a magic hatch under my bed andfly it round the middle of the earth, and if i opened my eyes they would hide and id just fall to my death!

Being Irish I was never sure if Saint Patrick had really and truly got rid of all the snakes as he was supposed to have done. So every night before I got into bed I had to check under the bed just in case there was one he'd overlooked!

I used to believe, after seeing a programme on TV, that spiders lived at the very bottom of my bed. I always slept with my feet tucked up under me, and as far up the bed as possible.
Funnily enough, years later, I would always wake up to find myself sleeping in the very bottom third of my bed.

When I was little, I thought that if I slept with my hand under my pillow,(which was comfortable to me)then a cannible would pop out from the front of my bed and start eating my feet.

In the movie "Angels in the Outfield" they had this one line "they're always watching" and from this line my nighttime scare began. I believed that oncec i got into bed all the angels would come from under my bed and just float around my bed and watch me. It totally freaked me out so i use to sleep under my blankets so that they couldn't see me. That way theyed get bored with me and leave.

I used to believe there were lions under my bed who came out when it was dark and blocked the route from my bed to the door. If I bravely managed to cross the room (by jumping between bits of furniture, the rug etc) I believed there were more out in the hall between my room & the bathroom. There was a certain route I had to take across the carpet (it was only about 4 steps!!) in order to make sure I didn't get eaten

I would always play hide-and-seek with my sister, but i would NEVER hide under the bed. My sister once told me that there was an octopus just waiting for me to get in there and become sucked up. And I believed her! But one day, I fell asleep on the floor beside my bed, not-knowing that my sister pushed me under it! When I woke up, I screamed my head off but then i noticed- THERE'S NO OCTOPUS! But then I threatened my sister the next day for threatening me, that if you went under the bed, it will fall on you if someone sits on it. SHE FELL FOR IT!

this isn't really under the bed so much as beside it. when i was younger my bed was pushed against one wall and until I was about 5 i was too afraid to sleep facing the wall because i thought a little tiny train conductor lived in the crack between my bed and the wall and that he would come get me and take me somewhere bad in his train. haha i still rmeeber teh first night i slept facing the wall and realized no conductor lived there...

Between the ages of 6 and 13 I used to beleive that when the lights were switched off at night, all the nooks and crannies (little spaces) had lots and lots of pairs of evil looking eyes and I used to hide under the covers because I thought the eyes would get me. I also used to think that at the same time if i looked under my bed when it was dark that there was one hugh pair of eyes staring at me and waiting to grab me

I was young when I saw the movie E.T. He freaked me out so bad. I started having dreams about him chasing me. And started to think he lived under my bed. I would wake up in the middle of the night from a bad dream, and run to my parents room up stairs. While trying to get there, I would think he was chasing me and as soon as I touch their bed he would go away. To this day I am still freaked out by him. And have not watched the movie.

When I was young I used to get very scared at night in my bed! I hated the dark and used to always hear noises and think there was a robber or murderer or monster/alien or something coming up the stairs to get me. I would hide under the bed sheets and tuck them all underneath me so no part of my body was exposed. Escpecially in the summer, I would get extremely hot and sweat and not be able to get to sleep, but I thought it was safer that way. How silly! hehe
