Until I was 12 I thought a cigarette was just a thin piece of paper rolled up. I had read somewhere about soldiers using the pages of a Bible to roll their cigarettes, so one night I ripped out a blank piece of paper at the back of a Bible and snuck outside rolled it up and lit it, when I inhaled it burned my mouth really bad! A few months later I found out about tobacco.

Whenever I picked my nose, my mom would say "Are you diggin' for gold?" I'm still looking for it.
I don't smoke, never have, and when I was in middle school (aged about eleven) the kids had obviously heard people saying that "everyone smoked at the high school." Somehow this belief developed that when you got to high school, the older kids would grab you in the yard and force you to smoke cigarettes. We'd never heard of peer pressure and this seemed the only explanation for the fact.
"Well, I won't let them give me any cigarettes."
"Duh, Silverstar1809, they FORCE you to smoke them."
"I don't care, I'll... trip them over or something!" (From the sweet kid of an eleven-year-old that I was, this was unprecedented violence.)
Not made any better by the fact that I had asthma and began coughing horribly if someone was smoking on the same train platform, so I believed that actually smoking would kill me.
Somehow I survived.

To try to get me to stop biting my nails, my Dad told me that fingernails don't digest, they just sit in the bottom of your stomach and collect there, and he knew of this guy who had bitten his nails so much that he had to have an operation. I kept biting anyway...

When I was about 2 years old, I not only believed that my father ate the cigarettes he smoked, but I also decided to do so myself. As you can imagine, eating tobacco is very harmful to a toddler, and this whole fiasco resulted in a trip to the hospital and a stomack pumping.

I used to spend a heck of a lot of time wondering whether it was just in my country or all over the world that people get "boogers" in their noses.
I thought my thumb could get smaller when I sucked on it

In all the old movies, smoking a cigarette sometimes signifies that the smokers have had sex, usually illicitly (like in "Now, Voyager"). I was exposed to a lot of these movies in childhood, and one day my neighbour and my aunt both started to smoke. I was about five, and I ran in screaming that Auntie was having sex with the neighbours (whatever *that* meant). I tell you, the looks on my mom's and cousin's faces were priceless.

My middle sister used to pick her nose and eat her boogers. So now that my two older sisters have kids (all girls), that if they eat their boogers there boobs won't grow like their mom/aunt.
I used to believe that if I picked my nose too much my brains would come out. I think my Mom probably told me that to stop me from picking. I was probably kindergarden age and I had a nightmare one night that woke me up. It felt so real that I had believed it was real. In the dream I was of course digging for gold, and pulled out a booger that was about the size of a grapefruit, and had the consistancy of Jello and was the most weird grey/green color. I thought for a few days there I was going to die cause how long can a kid live without a brain?

I used to believe only women who had sex were allowed to smoke. Whatever sex was.

my mom has always told me that picking your nose makes big rings grow around your eyes and the only way to remove them is laser surgery. (which i believe is what happened to her!!) -& i've never picked boogers ever since.
I was afraid of picking my nose, because I believed (and vaguely recall being told) that snot was fly poop. Because, (of course!) when flies shat in the air or in our vicinity, it somehow got ingested through our nostrils. :S

When i was 23 i saw a kid biting his nails and his mom told that he would have a tummy like the lady who a sitting two seats next to them, the lady was pregneant. The kid stopped biting his nails and whilst jummping of the bus he went to the preagnet lady and said I know how you got this fat.
;) lol,,,,,,,
I use to be bad about chewing my nails as a kid. My uncle told me that if you chewed your nails, they would eventually turn into worms and maggots inside your stomach. He even said that on his island (Dominican Republic) there was a bum who always had worms and maggots coming out of his ears and nose cause he was a big nail biter as a kid too.

My friend used to tell me that if you crossed a cigarrete lying on the road, you will become a smoker when you get older. And they only way to prevent it, is to spit on the cigarrete you cross.
I still remember spitting on the road whenever I stepped over a cigarrete. I hated becoming a smoker.

b. sitting on the pavement gave you piles
c. putting anything metal in your mouth gave you "kankers" whatever that was!!!
I think I never got kankers though one cant be sure...
