my mom used to tell me that if you put your finger up your nose, a snail would crwal out and bite off your finger. i never did it again for fear of my finger.

When i was around 5 i couldn't sleep one night. I picked my nose and i suddenly got scared. I thought if i dropped it on the floor it would become a boogie monster. And i thought if i ate it, I would become a boogie monster.... So i put the booger back in my nose...

When I was little, my mom told me that if you picked your nose and ate the boogers that you would get worms in your poop.
I was absolutely convinced that the clouds were made from cigarette and cigar smoke and that the reason some people wanted the smokers to quit was so the sun would shine every day. I used to get so mad at my parents (and everyone else) when they would smoke outside and was 14 before I learned the truth. I still hate smokers, though!!

My 8 year old granddaughter woke her mother one morning at 4 o'clock and asked if she would answer a question which was "Is it true that if you pick your nose your head will cave in?"

My Aunt used to tell me that if I kept bitting my nails a plant would grow from it. She even told me a cousin of mine had a plant on her fingers that she had to water.

when i was little my mom couldnt stop me from sucking my thumb so she told me that if i sucked my thumb my stomach would blow up like a balloon. this scared me so much i stopped. then one day i was in the park and i saw this lady with a huge stomach (not knowing she was just pregnant) and said to her see what happens when you suck your thumb. she just gave me a dirty look and walked off.

When i was little my aunt told me that if i kept picking my nose and eating the boogers a little and hill would grow in my stomach because the boogers were litle ants. I beleived her but i was the kinda kid who liked buge, you figure it out!
I'm a grown up (mostly) now. But I have bitten my nails for as long as I could remember. My parents really didn't say too much about it. What REALLY bothered them was me sucking my thumb.

My mom was concerned about my thumb sucking and made every attempt to make me stop sucking it. In shear despiration she told me that it I continued to suck my thumb my thumb would turn black and fall off. Although I was a little frightened I continued to suck my thumb. A couple of nights later I woke up and was tramatized by my BLACK thumb!! I cried all day and prayed saying I would NEVER suck my thumb again if only I could keep my thumb. Years later I learned my black thumb, was only shoe polish!! On the up side I stopped sucking my thumb!

when i was about 7 or 8 my sister told me that if you pick your nose and whipe it on someone it would turn into a mole(the bigger the bugger, the bigger the mole) so her and my brothers would whipe their buggers on me just to see me run screaming to the bathroom to wash them off.

when i was a little kid, my sister used to pick her nails. so i thought that all kids had to have a bad habit, or they weren't cool or something, so i started picking my nails too. and now its still a really bad habit
I remember a sunday school teacher telling me, after I was caught picking my nose, that if I picked too hard I might pull out a nose hair attached to my brain, causing instant death. Hmm... I was pretty scared until I was in high school science.
I used to suck my thumb all the time as a child. One day, my older sister came home from school and said that her teacher had told her that if you suck your thumb for too long, as an adult, your thumb would swell up and explode. Aahhh!

For all my life, I got bad habit of biting my nails. In 5th grade, I was told that if I keep biting them, I would die of nails in my stomach.. I believed it so I stopped. But few weeks later, I started again and nothing happened.
