My Mum tried everything to stop my thumb sucking. One tactic was the "it'll get smaller". So I kept checking my thumbs and the one I suck was (and still is) longer than the other. That idea proved wrong she tried to have me believe I would get buck teeth. The older I got the more my teeth stuck out and it looked like she was right. Then At 12 years old I was at the othadontists to have a brace fitted (to correct my buck teeth). My mother grabbed the opportunity and said "Her teeth stick out because she sucks her thumb don't they?" "No!" was the reply, "It's because her jaw is too small!"
Ha!
