bad habits: sucking my thumb

As a child I used to suck my thumb, that was until my nan told me she knew a little girl who used to suck her thumb as a child and she sucked it so much it went down to the bone and she was left with a bone sticking out of her hand!

I always used to suck my left thumb!! until I was quite old I am ashamed to say! My Mum persuaded me to give up this habit by telling me if I kept sucking my thumb it would end up falling off!

When I was about 5 my mom made we wear a glove so I wouldn't suck my thumb. I saw my grandmother wearing gloves one Sunday and assumed she too sucked her thumb and called her out on it.

When i was a little kid i would suck my thumb.
my grandfather told me if i sucked my thumb long enough it would turn into a fork.
I haven't sucked my thumb since.

I had a really bad habit of sucking my thumb, and I sucked it until I was 9 years old. (the only reason I stopped was because of an expander in my mouth. There just wasn't room for my thumb anymore!) My grandpa used to tell me all the time that if I kept sucking my thumb, I would grow a monkey's tale!! It just made me suck it more

When I was little I believed that my double jointed "hitch hikers" thumbs were because of I sucked it so much and my left thumb goes back so it my thumb looks straight and my right thumb goes back less and I remember sucking my left thumb more so I thought it was because of sucking it.

i am 15 and just gave up sucking my thumb (haven't done it for about 2 weeks now) and the ownly reason i stopped was because i was told that if i didn't that in a few years my teeth would end up sticking right out of my mouth!

I used to suck my thumb and my friend told me if I keep doing that then my thumb would disappaer. Didnt stop me sucking it though, I always thought of how cool it would be to see your own thumb disappear. I was a weird kid.

When i was little i used to suck my thumb so to scare me my parents told me if you suck your thumb you will blow up like a balloon...so one time on a bus i went up to a very pregnant lady and said "I KNOW WHAT YOU"VE BEEN DOING!!" my mother was mortified!

My mums boyfriends thumb got chopped off by a chainsaw when he was cutting down a tree so when we first met him he told me his thumb fell off because he used to suck it. Then everytime i sucked my thumb he wud wave his thumb in the air and eventually made me stop

When i was little i sucked my thumb and my mum said if i didn't stop it i would have teeth like a bunnys. But i never actually stopped sucking my thumb! so here i am now at the age of 13 about to get braces! (i still suck my thumb though)

i have sucked my thumb all of my life and i think i always will (13 now) but i used to belive by this age i would not have a thumb i thought it would shrivel up and eventurely disappear but i still carried on sucking it.

When my sister was little, she used to suck her thumb. My mom and dad tried to get her out of the habit, so my older sister and I figured we'd help... and give her nightmares.
We told her a story about a man who sucked his thumb and about how he was homeless because nobody liked him for it. We told of how one day, he had to go to the hospital beacuse his thumb started bleeding and how it fell off. Everday, we would add on to the story of this man's thumb. To this day, she won't even look at her thumb.

My sister and parents were constantly trying to get me to stop sucking my thumb years ago. I used to believe when they said 'Sonya, stop sucking your thumb' it meant they wanted me to suck my big toe instead. It never tasted right.

I've always sucked my thumb (I'm 13 now), and for a while I thought that when you sucked your thumb some sort of something in your saliva was slowly eating away at your skin.

Actually, I'm not convinced that's not true. I mean, why else do you get those cuts?

when i was little my mom asked me every morning what flavor my thumb was, the flavor changed everyday. i'm 17 and still suck my thumb, it doesn't have flavors anymore though. gosh i miss it.
