bad habits: sucking my thumb

I used to suck my thumb whilst rubbing cotton wool on my nose (bit wierd). A teacher at school told me that I was inhaling all the cotton wool fibres which would suffocate me during the night. I didn't believe her until one night I had a terrible chest infection. I remember waking up screaming because I thought I was going to die from sucking my thumb! Eek, gives me shivers even now.

My gran once told me that if I didn't stop sucking my fingers, they would get smaller and smaller like a lollipop.

Being inquisitive, I just sucked them more to see if she was right.

i used to think that if i didn't suck my finger i would die. so i carried on for ages and now i have a wartish thing on my thumb and sometimes when i don't reolize i find my thumb in my mouth!!!

When i was a little kid i would suck my thumb.
my grandfather told me if i sucked my thumb long enough it would turn into a fork.
I haven't sucked my thumb since.

When i was little i used to believe that if you stuck your fingers in your mouth worms would grow in your mouth. I stopped doing that after a while because i was so scared.

My mom told me that if I continued to suck my thumb, my front teeth would grow like a rabbit's. I stopped, but then accused her of lying when my front teeth grew on.

when i was 6 i used to suck on my thumb still.i dont know y it was a habbit.so in order to get me to stop my mom told me if i keep sucking my thumb i will have a huge hole in my thumb.i got so scared i stoped. i dont beieve that anymore though.

My mom told me that your thumb would turn green and fall off in your sleep if you sucked your thumb too much. I believed this until I was 10.

When i was a young boy i sucked my thumb, my mom told me that she would put pepper on my thumb if i didn't stop. I didn't listen because she didn't do it. Then she told me I would have buck teeth, i stared in the mirror and i swore that i was getting buck teeth so i stopped.

I used to suck my thumb all the time as a child. One day, my older sister came home from school and said that her teacher had told her that if you suck your thumb for too long, as an adult, your thumb would swell up and explode. Aahhh!

When i was little, my mom would say to me " If you don't stop sucking your thumb, it will turn out to be a stick jsut like a lolipop".....

When i sucked my thumb when i was little, my Grandmother always used to ask me what it tasted like. I always told her that it tasted like grapes and strawberries. I could just imagine someone mixing up grapes and strawberries in a bowl and then spreading it on my thumb at night!!!

My dad told me that my thumb would shrink if I kept sucking it, so for years I would measure it against the other one and as the size was always the same I just carried on sucking it until I was about 15

My parents use dto tell me that if I kept sucking my thumb I would have buck teeth and everyone would laugh at me. Well my teeth are just fine and though people do laugh, they are laughing with me not at me. I am 21 and still suck my thumb. Thanks mom and dad... love you too. :)

My mom got me into a habbit of sucking my thumb so I wouldn't use a binky. I thought that made me a grown-up so I kept on sucking until I was ten and now I have braces/

I used to believe that if you suck your thumb too much, it would fall off the next day. My mom told me that to prevent me from sucking my thumb and I never sucked my thumb again. I'm 20 and am still afraid to suck my thumb. I will tell my future kids that if they don't stop sucking their thumb
